Laptops moving

I am building a custom desk and I want to put laptops and computer monitors down on a Shelf, looking to buy some rubber or foam to cushion them and keep them where they are, what should I buy

IMO, northing. put the laptops and monitors safely away while traveling. while parked you wont need any cushions.

Rubber shelf liner will keep the from sliding around, but it won't keep them from bouncing around. I wouldn't leave them setup for travel unless they were physically secured somehow.

If you're planning to lay them down, I would add web straps to hold them in place. For the monitors, depending on size and construction, I might consider designing in a way that they could be left "standing" by physically mounting them. This might be screwing the bases down to the desk or it might be using mounting brackets like TV mounting brackets.

You could add web straps to hold the laptop in place where it will be used as well.

You might "get away" with the laptop sitting on non-slip rubber lining for a long time, but I wouldn't trust it...

I had my laptop suspended from the back cushion of the dinette table with a couple small bungee cords. I had a couple of left over foam wedges that I would slide up behind it when it was powered up so it would breathe. Worked well and I didn't have to take it down to travel.

I use a monitor, mouse and keyboard when working so I rarely had to access the machine itself. Those just get stored away when we were traveling.

3M makes some really good velcro in many widths. it sticks so good it will pull off the finish if you try to remove it. Make sure it's where you want it.
