Last day coming up for free Windows 10 upgrade

Not exactly new information, but July 29th is the last day Microsoft will provide a free upgrade to Windows 10. I noticed this in their new announcement today of a big Windows 10 "Anniversary" update coming Aug 2nd. Based on some other threads here, I think many may say so what or good riddance, but things still roll on. Just providing this FYI.

Actually, on my laptop, 10 opens faster than 7 ever did. I do like it.

Yes....things like DTNA Connect only work with IE, Windows 10 has a new browser. Just too many driver problems when switching....AND I really don't like the new interface....I have it on my tablet.

For those who didn't upgrade in time to get it free, more bad news. Linux is doubling the price of their operating system. Oh wait. Its free so no problem.😁😁😁

The OP mentioned July 29th - that's still a month away, what's the issue/problem? Is this date wrong?

Sounds like a one month notice.

Just a word of caution for anyone considering updating to Windows 10. Many people are reporting good results with Windows 10, but do your homework and check into how Windows 10 will really impact you, especially if you have an older computer.

Although the GWX utility said both of our laptops are OK for Windows 10, I decided to check further into the availability of new drivers. The manufacturer of the video card (AMD) for the older of our 2 machines states they will not have a Windows 10 driver for the card and that the display may not be correct with Windows 10. The video card is integrated into the mother board and not replaceable.

The manufacturer of the computer itself (Dell) has tested many of their older model computers with Windows 10. Their testing stopped with models just after our older one was manufactured. Their website states that since our model was not tested for compatibility with Windows 10, they do not recommend upgrading.

I also did some research into some of our software. I use Photoshop Elements extensively for my photography. Many users of the Photoshop Elements 13 (the version I am using) are experiencing problems with Windows 10, so it is likely I would have upgrade to Photoshop Elements 14.

Looks like I will be sticking with Windows 7, at least for our older laptop. I read somewhere Microsoft will be supporting Windows 7 until 2020, and the older laptop will likely be replaced by then anyways.
