Looking at dash cams, any features you guys feel you cannot live w/o?
Others that may be useless to you? I see some of these provide a rear view, do they provide a second camera?
Thanks
Dave

When you say Rearview if you’re speaking of what’s happening behind the rear bumper yes It would have to have a second camera
if you’re speaking about what I’m doing behind the steering wheel I’ll be hypocritical and say I wouldn’t be interested in filming what I do during an accident.

Yeah I know it'll have to have a second camera was just curious if they all provide a camera or if they expect you to tap into existing cameras you may have. Once I find a camera I like I will determine if it comes w/ a camera. More curious if the rear facing camera is of any worth? I actually have two rear cameras (One is a reverse cam that activates when i shift to reverse and the other is always on w/ ign. power which as atop the RV which allows me to monitor my toad.

My current one has a wifi interface, which I like the idea of, except the Android app is flaky and it often takes 2-3 tries to get it to complete a download of a 5 minute long video clip. Beyond that as long as it takes video, and has a easy to use "save this" button everything else is bells and whistles.

Does it have a USB interface and an sd card you can pull out to watch vids also? What about this 180 deg. camera business, find it useful?

One thing that would be very useful is a crosshair/grid on the viewscreen for aiming and leveling.

I’m also in the market and would love some links to units you like.

I spent a lot of money on cheap dashcams before getting the Rove R2-4K. I couldn't be happier! It is super easy to program and use, and the 4k videos are fantastic!

Yes, I think it has a USB, I know it has an SD card that can be pulled and inserted into an adapter, as that is the way I viewed videos from my previous dash cam that did not have a built in screen. This current one has a postage stamp size screen.
p.s. as to model selection I would get whatever has been on the market the least amount of time, as the new cheap stuff way out performs the expensive stuff from just a couple of years ago, though be careful to read reviews regarding flaky operation, etc.

Just read the specs on Amazon. Pretty impressive! And 15,000 4.5 reviews.
Just curious - do you keep video logs of your travels, or do you delete them after safely arriving at your destination?

Ask yourself do you want it for video logs of your travel, or potential accident records, if accident records consider very wide angle lens, which is great for seeing things coming from the sides, but not very good for looking at things down the road as they get tiny very fast with an ultra wide angle lens.

No, I don't keep any video. I just let it record over the oldest video. If something happens that I need to save then I will remove the card and save the video on my laptop!

What is surprising in the ratings is 13% give a 3 or less, that's a lot of unhappy buyers. I'm also in the market for a dashcam.

Sometimes if you read Amazon reviews very carefully, it seems like some folks just don't take the time to understand how to set something up and operate it, so they complain about it.
