Melted DashCam

I [S]have[/S] had a Veho muvi KZ-2 Drivecam Pro 4K Dashcam and it melted when installed on the windshield of my truck, the manufacturer says that it is my fault it melted.

Nothing else in my truck melted, I've no issues with anything else just this DashCam. Even the trailer tire pressure monitor display that was mounted beside it did not have any issues just the camera.

However the fact that it melted is somehow my fault???

Mounting a DashCam on a dash should not be done, go figure who knew!

Wow. I didn't know it got that hot up in Canada. LOL

Hits 110 f , 43 celsius, here where I live and my cameras have held up fine.

Good luck!

Must be some plastic that doesn’t hold up well to sunlight and heat. I don’t see how you could have weakened or damaged the plastic.

Does it appear to have been melted from an external heat source (the sun coming through the windshield) or from an internal heat source such as a short on the internal printed circuit board?

If it was sun load, the plastic case may not have been formed from proper thermosetting plastic. I had some remotes for my RF roof fans that got left in the sun still in their bubble wrap (trapped the heat) and curled up into a useless heap.

If it was from internal heat from a "short," it's scary to think what that might have led to.

Seems in either event this is not a brand you want to look to for a replacement.

Just from looking at reviews online, it seems the entire unit is a ripoff and not worth anything that was paid for it. There's only a few "decent" cams out there for the same price, such as the VIOFO 129/139 Pro or Thinkware U1000.

It may not be pretty but believe or not it still seems to work.
