I “retired” the core router last year. Can it be used for the load balancing you refer to? Do I gain significant improvement with the new indoor router..Spruce?

Sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere as I only spent a little time browsing the titles for like discussion.

The hardware has no bearing on data caps - that is determined by the plan you pay for.

It should be able to load the newest software. I think a Spruce would probably have a faster processor, but it's worth a try. See if you can download the 7.1.0b5 version. If it doesn't show as available, PM me the device's ID number and I can set it up to download it.

How do you get it to update to that firmware? Mine stays on 7.0.8 even after I have it check for updates.

I wasn't sure if that version had been made widely available or not. It's still a Beta version officially although it is being used on our new Converge product line.
If you would PM me the ID number of your Ranger I can arrange that it will get pointed towards the update.
