I currently pay a non-ATT landline & internet provider approximately $75.00 a month for internet access only. I don't have or pay for a landline telephone, since I use ATT for cellphone service.

The ATT $20.00 per month for unlimited data coupled with a Mobley sounds interesting.

My questions are:

1. Do I need a router to connect other devices to the Mobley, i.e., cell phones, Wii, TV, etc. ?

2. Does the Mobley connect to ATT towers for internet access?

3. Can I then ignore campground wifi?

4. Can I move the Mobley between S&B & motorhome with minimal problems?

5. Any other considerations?

The Mobley only supports 5 connected devices. It has a very simple router built into it. It should be smart enough to pass data between devices behind it such as between a computer and a wireless printer, etc. but someone who actually has one will have to confirm.

The Mobley only connects to ATT towers, it is not compatible with other LTE carriers. The Mobley will not connect to a campground WiFi and "repeat" it to the 5 connected devices like a WiFiRanger etc. can.

Devices connect directly to the Mobley using its network ID and network password.

You can "ignore" campground WiFi. In some rare cases if you were parked directly under a Campground WiFi access point its signal might overload the Mobley signal, but chances are the Mobley has auto WiFi channel selection and a Mobley power cycle would cause it to reset to a channel without interference.

You will want to buy the Mobley AC adapter (Amazon or Ebay) then you can use it anywhere you have an AC outlet. Other benefit is you will be able to place it higher in the RV with the best ATT signal. I suspect that under the dash in the OBD2 port that is one the few places in a RV with a lot of metal around will not work well in the boonies.

Last consideration is that posters note that by default the device goes into standby by itself after 2 hours, but this can be turned off. Most will want to turn this automatic standby feature off and just power it off when not in use.

I bought a Mobley and got the AT&T $20 per month unlimited plan last week. We use Verizon for our iPhones, Jetpack and iPad Air 2 on a 8GB rollover plan. We have AT&T internet and DIRECTV in the S&B. I also ordered a USB power adapter for the Mobley (since I had already installed a couple of USB ports in our TT. Ive been playing with the Mobley quite a bit since receiving it and it works quite well in both our home and in the truck (either plugged into the OBD port or using the USB adapter). To answer your questions and maybe reiterate the above answer:
1. As already stated the Mobley will allow five devices to share it and it works fine with our phones, Mac Air laptop and our iPad Air. That's all I've tried it on so far.
2. Yes, it connects to ATT towers only.
3. As long as you have a good ATT signal you can most likely ignore Campground wi-fi and it's probably more secure to do so.
4. Yes, it works fine in our S&B and TT or truck. Just provide it some power and it doesn't matter.
5. Depending on your needs to be connected you might want to consider a Verizon data plan if you need a backup, using either a phone or a Jetpack Mi-Fi device. It's pretty much acknowledged by all the "experts" that Verizon has the best coverage. We are pulling our TT up to Alaska this summer and I bought the Mobley for two reasons: 1. Another connection option and 2. The $20 unlimited car connect plan is too good to pass up and way cheaper than anything Verizon offers for unlimited data. I hope this helps.

This post turned into a Mobley post and will give you everything including suppliers. It will answer all your of the questions and more. I was the OP and what I leaned from the post I bought the Mobley instead of the Onstar. It works great.

I agree with all the above. I do run my Mobley though a Pepwave Surf on the Go Router (about $120 @ Amazon) connected through wifi.

As for the power adapter bypass the 110 AC adapter and just go with one that terminates into a USB plug. That way you can plug into a computer, 12v or 110 adapter.

That was my thought exactly and why I bought the USB adapter. Way more flexible.

I, unfortunately, bought the AC adapter first THEN realized that the USB was a better choice for more flexibility.

It looks as if the Samsung Connect Car dongle is superior to the Mobley. Has anyone had experience with it? It's supposed to be available through AT&T, but I've been unable to verify that.

The nice thing about the Mobley is that it DOES NOT probe the vehicle and the details associated with it. This allows the unit to be powered by anywhere 12v is available.
Not sure everyone would like the fact that the Samsung device does probe all this inf and then some:
"Additional Features
Driving Score
Vehicle Location
Fuel Economy
Vehicle Health
Alerts (Incident, Low Battery, Tampering, etc."

Not sure if you would be able to use it when not connected to an actual OBDII port. Time will tell if that is an option.

I've been doing some additional playing around with the Mobley and a thought came to me this morning about connecting our Amazon Firestick on our TV to the Mobley's wi-fi network and see if it would stream Netflix, Prime, etc. I am happy to report it worked great. So, another use for it when camping. Well, as long as we have an AT&T signal that's good enough :-)

I got my mobley on Saturday and all went well when I plugged it into the car. The granddaughter played videos all the way to town and back. Yesterday, after the odb2 port was found in the MH I was able to connect to the hotspot but had no Internet. I called att tech support and they could see it but it was not connected to the WAN. We finally tried turning off "domestic data" and back on and it connected and started working again. The tech guy was even surprised. However, it seems I have to do this every time I turn it on. So I may call them back. Has anyone else had this experience?
The only setting I change my was to set the power off setting to never. I did have the older firmware, but it updated itself to the latest version within a couple of hours of turning it on.

I haven't had that problem when switching from the trailer to the truck or, using a USB power adapter, plugging it into my Mac Air for power.

It is my understanding that newer? gas powered motorhomes have the odb2 port, but the diesel pushers usually don't. Can someone clarify this please? Thank don't know what year they started installing these ports. All of my vehicles have one, including my 2016 ford f53 chassis winnebago, and the DW's 2008 RAV4.

Don't know what year they started, but my 2002 Monaco Windsor DP has the OBDII port. I am already using it for a ScanGuage monitor. I have ordered the Mobley and will be using an AC adapter for power, not plugged into the OBDII.
