Moving Calyx Sim to Pepwave router

It seems that although it's against the TOS, in the past most who tried have been successful switching the Calyx sim to another router. I am wondering if anyone has recent updates since Calyx switched over to the Tmobile network completely and sent out the new 5g routers.

I have starlink and want to keep the Calyx as the fallback and have it all run through my dual modem Peplink. I have the rectangle starlink dish and the ethernet adaptor. Plan to run that into Peplink with the ethernet plug and would prefer to put the Calyx sim in the peplink as well. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I've seen at least one person on the LTE Hacks Facebook group say that he has put many Calyx SIMs in other / better devices over several years and has never had a problem. I think he has a business setting up internet for rural customers. This was fairly recent so I'm pretty sure it includes after the change to T-Mobile.

Of course you never know when they might start enforcing that part of the TOS. I don't think that guy was doing anything special but a lot of people do some "magic" on their routers which means set the IMEI to the same as the approved device. Unfortunately you can't easily do that with a Pepwave.

From what I read on the Calyx site, Calyx themselves don't really care. It's a restriction put on them by the hardware manufacturer. I'm not sure if it is still on the site but they used to have a FAQ which said something like "Can I put it in another device?" and the answer was "Officially no but try it at your own risk".

I know this is an old thread, but I've got to ask. . .

Has anybody figured out how to use the new Calyx T-Mobile SIM in the PepLink MAX Transit?

I had been using my Calyx Sprint SIM in my MAX Transit, but of course when they changed to T-Mobile that quit working.

A few months later my Calyx membership came up for renewal. I just let it lapse as the new T-Mobile SIM wouldn't work in the PepLink, and I was never able to find a solution.

Well. . . . that's not quite true. I found someone that said you could remove the router from the MAX Transit, connect it to a USB Adapter, then connect to a laptop/desktop and "Repair" the IMEI via Telnet. "Repair" meaning to reset IMEI to the original device the SIM came in. I'm not sure I possess those kind of skills. And there were no specific "Baking a Cake" step-by-step instructions.

So has anyone hear heard of any solutions. I would love to go back to the Calyx plan.

Thanks!

I have the Caylx 5G Sim and dropped into my Pepwave BR1 Pro 5G and just came up running without any problems. I also have the Verizon Grandfather unlimited plan that when I put it the BR1 it comes up as 5G. So I found that I can use WIFI WAN and get close to the same speed from the Calyx SIM in the M2000 Hotspot as I get by putting it in the Pepwave. That allows me to use bonding, WAN soothing and fall over.

I have never heard of anyone getting account shut down for putting in another device but that does't mean it had not happened.

You have to resort to that type of chicanery for it to work now. My T-Mobile replacement sim has been sitting unused in the craptastic Franklin they originally sent with the Sprint sim since August after I unsuccessfully tried it in my Peplink . I'm using a T-Mobile tablet plan instead and will be letting the Caylx plan expire next month.

Hmmm - so we have CWSWine who was successful moving the SIM to a MAX BR1 5G and vtwinwilly and Aquaadverse did not have success. Has anyone else tried?

I'd like to cancel my 50G T-Mobile plan in favor of the Calyx one, but want to use my BR1 5G router as well....

I had Calyx in a Cudy router last year. I changed the IMEI to match the little Franklin hotspot.

The lack of ability to easily do that with a Pepwave is why I will probably never buy a Pepwave. They're great products but the lack of good plans make them difficult or expensive for consumer / non-business use in the USA.

That said, I watch a few related forums and, for what it's worth, I haven't heard any first hand reports of Calyx being canceled for use with an unauthorized device / IMEI.

My Calyx SIM is currently back in the Franklin that I have loaned to someone for a few months but it will probably go back in the Cudy later this year when we use the RV again.

Here is a screenshot of my Peplink BR1 5G with the Calyx SIM installed with no Magic or IMEI changing. I put in and takes probably 2 minutes on the first connection and after that it just a few seconds. I also have fast fall over setup and I have a VPN setup for my laptops and NO VPN setup for my TV. It is just that simple. I normally have my Verizon 5G SIM in BR1 and do WIFI over WAN to my Calyx M2000 and the reason is that I don't have a Verizon 5g hotspot and do for the Calyx SIM
