Need advice on Hotspots for Verizon

I'm researching internet access on the road. From what I've found so far, I'm looking at starting plans with ATT and Verizon. It seems like the Netgear Nighthawk is a good hotspot for ATT with external antenna ports. However, I can't seem to find a hotspot for Verizon that has external antenna ports. Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to connect with Verizon?

thanks

Verizon 8800L buy it form online sources less than 100$
cheaper would be the older 791 all with external ports

I suggest, as always, following rvmobileinternet.com I pay for the subscription side and its saved me a bundle! but the free side has good info.

I don't think the 8800L has external antenna ports. How are you boosting cell signals when needed? Are you using something like a WeBoost?

thanks

Yes it does. 2 ports for MiMo antenna connections. 2 round "dots" either side of the USB connector.

I use the 8800L on Verizon, and have it plugged into a MIMO antenna. The external antenna works wonders in some places. In other spots, not so much. But I've found it gives us a better signal most of the places we visit. I use the Netgear 6000450 antenna. Here's a link to it on Amazon.

Thanks for the reply, but I'm confused. I spoke to a person at the Verizon store today and she said the 8800L did not have external antenna ports. Just to be sure, you're talking about the Inseego 8800L when you say it has external antenna ports? I don't mean to question you, just want to be sure since I heard two different things.

Yes it has two antenna ports as described above. Just pop the rubber caps off and bingo. Just an FYI I know that my nighthawk will also work with verizon. I don't know ( haven't tried) making the 8800l work with ATT. You may need a simcard adapter I can't recall for sure and don't have it here with me or I would check..

I have 8800 and there are little dots beside the USB connector, but how do you connect an antenna?

There are two small recessed caps. I used a small knife to pry them out.

"Officially Verizon doesn't call those antenna ports, but they are. The CSR was just telling you what she has been taught.

The salesperson you spoke with does not know what she is talking about. There are two ports on either side of the USB charging plug. They are covered by rubber plugs. You have to remove the plugs to expose the antenna ports. The MIMO antenna has 2 plugs that fit those ports. My Inseego 8800L came directly from a Verizon company owned store, not a Verizon authorized retailer.

I like the Winegard ConnecT 2.0.

It is a permanent mount on your roof, with a built in antenna, so you should get good reception. Works with most carriers.

I just received a Netgear MEMO. Connected it to a Verizon MiFi and without extensive aiming download speed increased 6 mb. Upload stayed about the same or slightly less.
