New Verizon 55+ plan

Got an e-mail from Verizon about a new 55+ Unlimited Data Plan. Two lines for $80.00. That's only $5 more than we're paying now for 2Gb of data!

Be aware that the 55+ plan probably limits bandwidth on hotspot useage to 600kbps. It does have unlimited data. We have been on a 55+ plan I'm Texas for last 2 years. In our recent travels in Wisconsin, ATT has had much better coverage and data rates than VZW.

I don't see any mention of that in the fine print.

I dunno. The way things are going in Florida they may end up with a much lower average age demographic.[emoji3064]

If you are interested in the plan, it may be worth contacting Verizon (I used Chat). We received a similar email a few years ago about the 55+ plan and it appeared when I researched that it was only for Florida residents and so we likely would not eligible. However, when I contacted Verizon, it was available to my account but, only for a brief time. We've been on the 55+ plan since and are not Florida residents. Works for us.

Here you go: https://www.verizon.com/support/55-plus-unlimited-plan/
FL billing address required.
During times of congestion your data may be temporarily slower than others.

We are in Kansas and had this plan for several years. Yes, it only allows 600KB for hot spot useage. We have found that if our Unlimited Prepay Plan is getting managed I can use a IPhone to HDMI connector and get a higher priority and still stream. We also use the Iphone to connect to the coaches radio so we can listen to national news on Youtube TV while traveling.

So you hard wired your iphone to a TV via a HDMI connection and bypassed any limitations?
What channel do you use to listen to news on You Tube TV? CNN, Fox, etc?

We're in California and have had it for several years. Verizon has been our carrier for many years and when I inquired about an unlimited data plan I was offered the Unlimited 55+ Loyalty Plan at $40 per phone. Unlimited data and hotspot limited to 600kbs as stated. We recently made a nearly three week trip to western Montana and I used up to 18.7GB on some days without much slowdown noted. I'm quite pleased with how well this works for us. Most of the data was used to stream to my phone and cast to the TV.

I just finished a chat with a Verizon agent about this offer. It is a "loyalty" offer only sent to certain people, based on their age and time they have been Verizon customers. It is not offered to the general public around the USA. It is not just for Florida customers, although they do offer it to some localized locations such as Florida.

The price is $80 for 2 lines, IF you agree to auto billing with either a bank debit card or the Verizon Visa card. No other cards accepted! If you don't agree to those terms the price is $90 for 2 lines.

I have this plan. They throttle the speed way down if the tower you’re near gets busy. Not too much of an issue where I am in Fl. but was almost unusable where I summered in North Carolina.
