New Verizon Plan is actually better (for me!)

I have had the Shared unlimited data plan from Verizon for a long time.

Basically two phones with 700 shared minutes and unlimited data for $134 + $8 tax/fees.

I liked the unlimited data, but in reality, what good is it if I only use 3 or 4 gig?

So switching to a 6GB plan is $60 Plus line access charge of $40 each line.

But here is where they are still helping you out.
If you are out of contract, OR upgrade your phone, then the line charge is $20/month for each phone.

I will be switching and linkly upgrading one phone. A $576 phone is about $24/month over two years....

So for the next two years my bill will be around $124/month, This is a NO Contract plan, so when the phone is paid off, we go down to $100/Month.

I basically see this as a savings...and they allow you to go up/down in data plans so if your going to use the phone as a hotspot for a couple of weeks, you can bump your plan for the month.

Regards,

Dan

Doesn't Verizon charge extra to use your phone as a hot spot??

On our shared data plan if we stay over 6G of data we get $24 credit per line.

It so happens that my bill also ended up substantially less under the new plan. We happened to fit nicely in the new, broader categories of data usage, so we get more service for less money. And one phone is paid for, so gets the new lower rate. Other phone gets cheaper in December and will save another $10/month.

For another customer, it may work out the opposite way, so compare carefully before changing.

Yes, $1/day. They are charging you for their Hot Spot app.
However, i just installed PDANet, which does the same thing, so mo extra charge.
I do notice a bump in data usage because we connect the pc, tablet, and stream videos in the coach.

I have 9 lines on my account and switching saved $110 a month not including my 22% employee discount.

A stand alone hotspot now is $10 a month instead of $20 as well.
