Non-monthly Hot Spot Plan for the Mofi 5500 7411
I camp for 4-6 weeks twice a year. Are there hotspot plans where I can buy data for that period without having to sign up for a monthly plan or pay the re-activation fee each time? The data requirements are for casual web browsing and email use only. I was thinking about purchasing the mofi 5500 7411 over say the verizon jetpack for the potential of better reception and speed. If this is overkill don't hesitate to say.

I'm not sure which data plan would work best for you, you might consider cutting the cord at home and using cellular internet both at home and on the road then you wouldn't need to stop and start your data plan. Here's a link to a video from the experts at MIRC on the best cellular data plans as of late 2022-

For the light amount of usage you describe, why not use the hotspot feature on your cellphone? Many cell plans include a generous data allowance that can be adjusted temporarily for even more data when you are on the road.

We use T mobile. We have the Magenta 55+ plan that gives each phone 5gig of high speed hotspot data. It then throttles down to a 3g speed which is up to 3mb. We have not used enough data to bounce into this cap so I can't help out with how well it works.
They also have a plan upgrade coming soon of Magenta Max replacing Magenta+. This will provide 40gig/mo at high speed hotspot versus the 20 gig/mo on the current + plan. and no network management on regular data, full throttle data full time.

X2 on MIRC ! Lot's of good info available there. And it's not just cut and paste info. They actually test many of the products and services covered.
