On line banking
We do online banking and have done so for quite a few years. We have went fulltime last year. My question is my wife wants a new device to do this now. We've looked at Ipads, smart phones, tablets etc. She also needs to copy to paper through our printer some things she does. What is a conveinant way to do all of the things we will have to perform? Is there one item that can handle this safely? We are using Verizon for cells and internet for a long time without probs. Thanks, any advice is appreciated.

iPad/iPhone with an AirPrint printer. You would need some sort if a network hub for the printer, but is shouldn't be much of a problem. Just an idea.

All of our banking (multiple banks) is done electronically. We routinely use laptops, tablets, Nook, Kindle, smartphones to do what needs to be done - whatever device is handy. Any device with a cell connection (or WiFi) should work for what you are trying to do. What I am trying to say is, your choice of device should not be restrained by wanting to do electronic banking.

We use iPads and an HP print/scan/copy printer. Our Verizon hot spot acts as the hub/router. Most all of the HP printers support Apple's AirPrint. It is simple to set up and even simpler to use.

Banking is easy-peasy on any device.
I mostly use my iPhone. For things I must print those 2 or 3 times/year, I put it on a thumb drive and go to a box store like Staples and get it printed for pennies. Dont need a printer anymore.
Dont need to buy ink anymore.

Here's a thought. Make sure if you are using a printer wirelessly to make sure it is pass worded and/or secured. There is a printer listed on the wi-fi network here that is not pass worded or secured. If someone really wanted to, all they would have to do is download the drivers for it and then connect to it and print all they want on it. It's an HP Deskjet 3520. With the price of ink and paper it would be a good thing to do. For now we use ours with a wire since that's easiest right now with the amount that we do print.

If you plan to use an iPad, get a bluetooth keyboard to go with it. Switching back & forth between the letter/number virtual keyboards drives me nuts! While I love my iPhone & iPads, I still prefer a laptop for browsing & banking...

Thanks for all the reply's, as stated in my OP we do online banking and have for several years. That's not the question. Just looking for something smaller than our 15inch screen laptop.

We use a Verizon Jetpack and wireless all in one Brother printer. We have iPads, notebooks and smart phones that can use all devices.

You can do that simply with an Ipad and a multifunction Airprint enabled printer. You will need 3 things:
1. Aiprint Enabled MultiFunction Printer - Example
2. iPad
3.A wireless router - Example. You may also consider a WIFI ranger setup so that you can connect to the ACTUAL internet and still print at the same time. (The wifi ranger serves as the Access point and wireless router)
The ipad will allow you guys to use the internet and to print. The wireless router will create a network for you to print over in your RV. The printer will print wirelessly and also make copies when neccessary.
In this diagram the "Access Point" is what I referred to as the wireless router
Also you can read AirPrint Setup
