Outlook Express sends numerous emails

My neighbor asked me to solve a problem with his computer - seems like Outlook Express (Ver 6.0) flashes an error message when he sends an e-mail. (Typical Microsoft error message in that it doesn't say what the error is) Then, the application sends 2 or 4 or 6 copies of the same e-mail. Any ideas?

Would appreciate any assistance.

Check to see if he has a virus scan activated for his emails. If not, that's the likely problem.

Show him how to change to Gmail. Outlook Express is junk. But you may want to go to the out box and clear out all the unsent messages. Then I think you can tell outlook to rebuild/repair the database.

Outlook Express is only a client. If you have gmail, you can download it using a client. Yahoo, MSN, and others like gmail are the providers.

Download Thunderbird and it's free. You will be able to import all your email from Outlook Express, and address books.

End your problems.

I resolved the issue by deleting all files, including the hidden files, and working off line, compacting all folders. Once back on line, we sent several messages without an error, and they were single messages. The problem appears to have gone away, my neighbor is happy, thinks I really know what I'm doing, but all of us here know that I don't.

(I'm counting on you to never tell)

I have found that I am better off keeping my emails available on line and not downloading with any client. I can get to them from any computer including my Droid Cell Phone.
