Here are some things I have done / will be doing to minimize wash out.
First, I have one of those screens that attach to my awning that helps a lot. A small section stays in the track in the awning, then there is a longer section that your zip on. It expands your shaded area in general, so a plus all the way around. Depending on your viewing angle to the TV, often just the short piece that stays attached helps with the glare.
However, sometimes with even with the screen it is still a bit too much washout / glare. So then, I take a large dark beach towel and clip it to the awning flap to create a dark background for the TV (use those big spring clips that you get at Home Depot). It just lays over the awning screen if I have that zipped on. I am going to have a 5'x5' black backdrop made using boat cover material or something similar that will be even better.
My outside TV cover panel flips up, but it is gloss white that can cause reflection off the screen. I am going to pull that off this winter and paint it flat black.
Regards
