I asked if there would be any charges while not in use and was told no. Two weeks later I go into the account and the up coming month's payment is still there and it is now past due (pay as you go is pay in advance service and I called before the next months service started). I called back to inquire of the first DISH rep had been mistaken about how the service worked. I was once again told that this is how it worked and at my billing date the 23rd of each month the charge would drop off. So on the 26th I go into the account and there is now the past month charge and a new charge for the upcoming month. I called back and demanded that they cancel me as a customer. Waited until the next billing date to go by and thankfully the charges were gone and my account showed cancelled. Not sure if I will go back to DISH again.

If you simply don't pay the bill, you will get 2 months worth of bills before you see a zero balance. It's maddening, but that's how it works. We only use the "don't pay the bill" method when we have had the satellite on for a month or close to a month. When we are out for less than a month, we call and "cancel" our service. Yes, sometimes you have to argue with the rep and insist that they cancel the service, but they will and when they cancel the service, you'll see a credit.
I will say, that if we had satellite service at the S&B we'd use that same service in the coach, but we are in a contract with verizon there, so it's Dish in the coach for us. It's great we have that option with them, too bad it's not a well understood product in their customer service area.
