Hi,
Can you confirm which device you were using at what software version you were on? I'd like to enter a ticket for this with our GIS department.

I like my RM 7720. Not perfect, but a fine instrument. As others have said, all GPS navigators need to be used with a skeptical eye and advance planning.

X2. I am also a big fan of paper maps and a road atlas.

I just went on a trip with someone that did not have a GPS. My rand is on its way to get a software problem fixed. Quite frankly we missed a turn on the way there and on the way back. Added about an hour each way. I miss my GPS saying turn here.

Rand Tech Support
Worked with Ed, a Senior Manager of Rand Technical Support, explained my situation, and he was quick to resolve the issue. Contact their tech support if you have issues with their GPS system, they rock.

I've been back and forth across the country with the Rand 7210. The only problem I ever had was caused by closure of a road in Texas that caused a detour on a ranch road. Even at that it got me were I was going. I carry a couple of atlas books whenever we travel

Another feature few seem to use is TripMaker. Log into the site and use the software to build your trip and download to your RM. It's much easier than doing it on the device.
Rand McNally - TripMaker
Everyone has their experiences, but I've had my 7710 now for 3 years and no issues. Gets better with each software upgrade.

Google maps likes to send me 100 miles out of my way.
The best named of all the mapping programs (NOTE:I am only talking about the name,,,NOT the product) Was Microsoft's STREETS and TRIPS.
Sometimes you were directed down streets, and highways, and freeways
And sometimes it took you on "A real trip man" (Think bad acid).
Very well named. I still use it.. Though I often overide it now.
