Please stop with the scare tactics. The battery in the article was not LiFePo4.
It was lithium-ion, an entirely different chemistry. Lithium-ion has been known to catch fire in toys, e-bikes, skateboards, etc. Never have I heard of a Lithium Iron Phosphate battery catching fire in an rv. Have you? If so, please post the facts here. It’s a disservice to readers to imply LiFePo4 in rvs are dangerous.

The ones in the linked article above were the Li-Ion type and not the LiFePO that we normally use in an RV application.

6 volt AGM batteries are great batteries; proven technology, NO special charger, NO maintenance ( no adding water ), NO acid fumes, mount in any position, COST EFFECTIVE, NO scary surprises,….. I’m a AGM kinda guy……

I just checked my phone. It has a lithium-ion battery. I've got it in a metal case for now.

You can literally drill through an LFP battery with no issue. LFP is definitely getting popular. BYD and Tesla now use them in about half of their vehicles. Ford is switching to them for one of their Lightning models this year. They are a little heavier and have a little less energy density but are fine for the non high performance models.
Much of the grid storage coming on line all over the world is also LFP.

Nothing wrong with AGM batteries, if you have the space required for the amount of power storage you need AND your rig can handle the weight !

I'll still be posting more. I did some research and found out there are differences so I'll admit I was wrong and shouldn't have copied and pasted this link. Sorry I woke up so many people so early in the day.

Yup.... I was too until I took the time to learn the unique benefits of LiFePO4..... not to mention using them for over 3 years now....... you couldn't pay me to go back to AGM...... but hey some people still have tube TVs.... to each their own

Absolutely no shame in admitting being wrong. I was wrong once. I thought I was wrong, but I wasn't, so I'm admitting it now.
Seriously though, a little over a year ago, I didn't know the difference in anything Lithium related, but I wanted to do a DIY battery build for my Toy Hauler for a specific reason. I pretty much immersed myself in the topic and learned a lot about them. Don't take that the wrong way....I am F A R from being an expert, and certainly have a lot more to learn, but I learned enough to accomplish what I set out to do, with great results....302AH LFP battery that stays within a few milli-volts of each other on all four cells, and provides me with plenty of reserve for my 12VDC twin compressor refrigerator in the camper.
