What dish (antenna) are you using?

I assume you mean watch 1 channel and record a different channel ??

Are you intending to watch 1 program on 1 satellite while recording a different channel on a different satellite ?

It's easy if you want to invest some money in a new antenna and receiver. A Trav'ler antenna (available for Dish or DirecTV) and a Hopper or Genie receiver make an excellent combination for a motorhome. The antenna is fully automatic - travels folded up and unfolds and finds the satellites automatically. The receivers mentioned can record multiple stations independently.

Dome antennas often come with two outputs but they can only look at one satellite at a time. One receiver is the primary (it directs the antenna) and the second one can only tune stations on the same satellite as the primary. Can be limiting.

The best receiver from Dish for RV use the 611. It is a three tuner DVR with HDMI connections that will fit in your cabinet.

The best news is Dish will give you one for $10 per month ($120/yr)

Many people do not know about this, because Dish is not offering this as an RV receiver, but just another home receiver like you would order for a room in your house.

Be aware that they will want to install it, so you will need to have your coach available on a specified delivery day. The guys who installed mine had never done an RV, so I supervised everything. They even supplied all the HDMI cables.(N/C)

We have a winegard G-2. I don"t know if it will allow us to receive and record two different channels. Does anyone else know?

Channels yes, the issue is are the channels are on separate satellites. A dome can only lock onto one satellite at a time.

A VIP 611? That is a new one on me and Dish too. VIP 612 is two satellite tuners and an OTA tuner for a total of three.

I used a VIP 612 and a VIP 722K together in my trailer but I was using either the Winegard Trav'ler or a ground tripod with a DPP 1000.2 dish. I could watch and record any channel on any satellite at the same time.

Now I have a Hopper 3 and two Joeys.
