RV TV won't play movies- help?

This is a tv with the DVD player inside TV. Put movie in and you can hear it like it's trying to play. Any ideas of what's wrong? It's 3 yrs old.
What I've tried:

1. Turned it on and turned it off.
2. Unplugged and re-plugged.
3. Plugged in for weekend in case humidity levels
were higher, to dry machine out after sitting unused for awhile.
Thx for any tips.

Do you have to tell the tv to play from the DVD versus the antenna or cable? They may be a menu settin such as input source... TV, Cable, Aux, DVD....

Is it a showing anything on the screen like play when you hit play? Is it a blue ray movie and a blue ray player?

Its a setting issue. Please check and see if your TV is in the correct mode. should be able to find the settings on your remote.

Is the DVD being inserted backwards? Is the the input set to DVD? The DVD player portion of the TV could be bad.

As stated above you may have to switch to the DVD player by selecting "Source" via the menu or remote and then the DVD player.

Can you identify the manufacturer and model number of the tv with the DVD player?

Perhaps someone can locate an Owner's Manual for the TV that would give specific instructions.

Good luck.

Take care,
Stu

I'm surprised that no one so far has suggested that the DVD player mechanism maybe defective. Just because it "sounds" like it is trying to play doesn't mean that it actually is. The fact that it is only 3 years old is also irrelevant; DVD players are not particularly rugged and failure is common.

Indeed possible. Might be a little early in the troubleshooting to default to that.

Very well might end up there.

Take care,
Stu

One thought make sure it isn't a blue ray or cd disk. Just a thought.

I had a TV once that wouldn't play a DVD, it turned out it was broken.

The information is out there, all you have to do is let it in.

Yes that may be the case. DVD part may have just quit. Will mess with the settings. Thx for the tips.

If we have to replace it, any tips on an economical Rv style, smaller bedroom version ?

I said in post # 5 that the DVD portion could be bad. Most tv/dvd combos auto switch to dvd playback when a dvd is inserted. Some you have to select dvd using the source or input button. A few you have to go to the channel selector and below channel 1 you will find the aux inputs such as dvd, hdmi, and component. I have never seen a blue ray player built in with a tv.
