Months in the making . . .

This is my 4th solar install since 2006:

2006 - 240W solar (series), Solar Boost 2000E charge controller, Xantrex RS2000 inverter/charger
2009 - 760W solar (series-parallel), Xantrex XW-MPPT60-150 charge controller, Xantrex RS2000 inverter/charger
2012 - 735W solar (parallel), MidNite Classic 150 charge controller, Magnum MS2000 inverter charger
2022 (last year for 26% tax credit) - 1110W solar (series), Victron SmartSolar 150/70 charge controller, Victron MultiPlus II inverter/charger

Can't say enough about Victron equipment, especially the network monitoring capability, but the animated Touch 50 display takes the cake . .

How many solar charge controllers are those in sum total, are they all needed or redundant or replaced?


I wanna go solar this year end and want to like once and done it by going solar and lifepo together!

If you’re referring to the graphic, there are currently no solar chargers because I haven’t installed one yet.

The diagram just shows energy flow.

Here’s my system diagram. I plan to have just one charge controller.

Hey TechWriter: Totally impressive, may I ask what the budget is for the new iteration? That way I can get started on my toy enhancement fund!
Looks like a robust and thorough design.



Any thoughts on upping the storage voltage and subbing in a Powerwall or some such as storage?

If I had the $$$, instead of lead-acid batteries, I’d install 5 of these 206 Ah LiFePO4 SOK batteries

Wow great product love the specs on those batteries. Hey this whole thing should be eligible for solar credit given that its going into a second home correct? That was the angle with which I was thinking of the solar wall battery or generac house-battery type thing, since I keep my rig at home it could be dual purpose for the first house as well! But I like the SOK batteries so will give them due consideration as well. You really have this whole thing buttoned down well. Take pics of the install etc, for us newbies and for your own documentation. All the best.

Yep, the credit is 26% this year.
