Splicing the Gen3 Antenna Cable

In Nov 22 we bought a Starlink Gen2 we went through a couple of mounting options but ended up with a flagpole mount and a fiberglass mast. About a month ago I decided to upgrade to a Gen 3 dishy and new router. I had dropped my Gen2 and cracked it.
I looked around for mounting options because Gen 3 had a goofy kickstand and no mounting pole I needed for my existing setup. I stumbled across a You Tube video which I liked.

When I ordered the Gen3 I also ordered the wall mount. When everything came in, I promptly broke the kickstand trying to take it out. I noticed taking the cable out of the dishy was a real PIA, I watched several video’s and it looks like almost everyone has issues with it. So for now I am leaving the cable plugged into the dishy and pulling the cable from the router, it’s doable but a PIA. I have tried a few ways to take the new mount but haven’t been very successful. It would be much easier to just unplug a R45 connector about a foot down the cable, hiding down the flag pole a bit.

My question is, how difficult is this to do? Are there any gotya’s I need to be aware of? This is the best video I have found. Is it compatible with the Starlink cable? Splicing the Gen3 Antenna cable?

I've done quite a few RJ45 connectors. It's not the easiest connector to use. You likely won't get it right the first time so buy extras if you go that route.

I think you could just purchase a 6 foot ethernet cord instead of buying the tools to make one.

The problem would be the connector. Since it's exposed, you'll need something waterproof like this. I'm not sure it would last forever though. The starlinks have power over ethernet to power the dish that could short out if corrosion builds up.

I have no problem pulling the cable out of the dishy with just a firm tug.
