There are multiple discussions of Starlink in this subforum:

Just installed Starlink yesterday. Perhaps the easiest internet setup I've encountered.

The equipment is competitively priced for what you receive. The data plan is truly unlimited & IMHO is fairly priced.

With that said, there is no perfect solution for the RV community, but this is one of the better solutions available.

What equipment do you buy and what is the cost? How much does the data cost?

The above link will take you to pricing information for the various Starlink offerings & equipment.

I live & work out of my RV full time. Due to some recent medical issues I will not be driving for the next 6 months. I was fortunate to get a residential DISHY plan with roaming & the data is $135.00/mos.

The residential plan indicates it has a higher priority than the RV plan. From what I've been reading from those who have the RV plan, they are having no issues. Reception is most likely impacted by the number of active users with the cell. Ordering the RV package results in a quicker shipping time.

I purchased a tripod & a pole adapter from the above site, not sure what sort of inventory he has left as he was trying to get out of the business.

I purchased from Starlink their pole mount adapter @ $37.50 & their Ethernet adapter @ $30.00. Until you order equipment, I don't think you can see the accessory prices.

I distribute the Starlink signal, along with RV park WiFi (if available) & my cellular signal with a Peplink device. By the time I assembled & installed all of the equipment & supporting stuff ( switches, antennas, access points, cables & other stuff), I would guesstimate between $2K - $2.5K.

Keep in mind I work from my RV & I'm dependent upon internet connectivity to function. Yes, there are less expensive options available & there are more expensive options available.

With the exception of recently installing Starlink (approximately $800.00), this set up has exceeded my expectations for the applications I run.

We've had Starlink working for several months. It started out great but lately it drops to less than 10Mbps in the evening hours. Last night it was down to 1.6Mbps and we were unable to stream programs. Customer service says it will get better, but the problem is when.

Facebook is full of people posting complaints about Starlink's speeds but there are lots of completely satisfied customers, like myself.

When I examine the Starlink app to review the outages over the past 12 hours, there are usually only a handful of them that are >2 seconds in duration. For example, today there were only 6 outages >2 seconds in duration and only one of those was >10 seconds. However, there are several dozen of them that were <2 seconds.

As for speed test results, I rarely use the test built into the app, rather I use Ookla from my laptop. I rarely ever measure speeds <100 Mbps. When I wrote this post I was getting >200 Mbps. We have Starlink residential service which has the highest priority. I can't speak to speeds when using the RV or mobile service.

As someone who watches TV exclusively by streaming, I can attest to the fact that outages of a few seconds will rarely result in pauses in the stream unless what you watch is principally live TV programming such as sports or local programs. Most programs on the major networks and cable channels have buffers long enough to eliminate pauses unless the outage is ~20-30 seconds in duration. Even when watching live, unbuffered programming we rarely find the outages to be annoying. JMO

It's worth noting that, for the most part, speeds >10 Mbps should be sufficient for supporting HD video on multiple devices. Even though Starlink did promise speeds >100 Mbps, those really aren't necessary for most consumer uses. Presumably, Starlink's new premium service should provide those sorts of speeds to users who really need them.
