We got notice today that starlink will be available on my area.
I read this on the starlink site FAQ.
"Your Starlink is assigned to a single cell. If you move your Starlink outside of its assigned cell, a satellite will not be scheduled to serve your Starlink and you will not receive internet. This is constrained by geometry and is not arbitrary geofencing."

I received the "available for order" notice today for SF bay area. After reading your quoted FAQ, I realized I couldn't sign it up as we are traveling year round that we won't be able to use it outside the home area. Have to wait

I have a question installing the Starlink on a trailer’s roof. Our trailer is permanently parked at our rural property in NorCal. Has anyone installed it on their RV using the “volcano” mount? I just want to make sure that mount will work on a flat roof. What do you think would be the best way to bring the cable in?

Got the invite 5 days ago, and just signed up today. Can't wait to get the box, and see what happens with the future of this product. Knowing EM it will be good!

Did you get the $100 invite or the $500 invite in NC?

It's my impression that the invites for future use (rather than those for the Beta test) are for $99 paid up front with the $500 for the receiver paid at the time it is shipped.

I paid my $99 a week or two ago. I was wondering if the real service had made it to NC yet?

Thank you for passing that question. Your case is exactly why I started this thread... To discuss the installation and use for RV.
I have a dish, but I have not mounted it yet. The antenna comes with a tripod and there are mounting kits that Starlink sells. If you plan to mount on the roof, be sure you are connecting into roof structure and not just an putter layer like rubber or fiberglass... That is if you have strong winds in your area.
I have recently installed solar panels on my roof and ran wires to the basement. You can try to first use existing penetration in the roof for this cable. I have a front cable that was used by my SAT dish that I have used before. If you have access, sometimes refrigerators have vents you can use. For my solar, I drilled new hole and used a waterproof plastic junction box that I sealed to the roof over the hole.
Can't speak your current mount, but you may want to take a look at the option Starlink provides. When you do figure it out, please post back here with your results and photos

I paid the $100 up front cost. Below is the email I received....
Starlink is now available for order to a limited number of users in your coverage area. Placing your order now will hold your place in line for future service. Orders will be fulfilled on a first-come, first-served basis.
During beta, users can expect to see data speeds vary from 50Mb/s to 150Mb/s and latency from 20ms to 40ms in most locations over the next several months as we enhance the Starlink system. There will also be brief periods of no connectivity at all.
As we launch more satellites, install more ground stations and improve our networking software, data speed, latency and uptime will improve dramatically.
The Starlink team will provide periodic updates on availability as we launch more satellites and expand our coverage area. Depending on your location, some orders may take 6 months or more to fulfill.

Ummm, no. And that's why we are here waiting and hoping for Starlink to be available to RVers who roam.
Full time Nomad who does remote IT software programming for a bank. I have 3 phones (1 Verizon, 2 Google Fi which is T-Mobile/Sprint/USCellular) just to encompass both coverage and data caps. Hotspot data is limited to the 15-25Gb a month range from all major providers except maybe AT&T who I will not touch. Those who advertise "unlimited" hotspot are MVNOs who can be severely throttled at any time. This assumes a decent connection. I still have a Verizon screen shot off right off I-35 north of San Antonio giving me 0.02mbps/0.09mbps dialup speeds consistently.
25-30GB is used for VPN work and personal e-mail and surfing. The remaining data will get me a few hours of streaming and video...per MONTH.
I don't care if it's 10mbps/1mpbs/80ms with a 100GB cap, that's FAR FAR better than what I get today.
1 in 4 RV parks has good Internet. 1 in 4 has tolerable Internet. The other 50% are garbage. My data sample is 68 sites over the last 28 months.
I might go and watch tomorrow's launch attempt after the scrub yesterday.

My statement pertained to someone who had asked about "in motion" internet service ONLY. It had nothing to do with the overall issue of obtaining internet access while "roaming" as a full-timer.
I agree that once Starlink allows users to re-locate their installations a whole new era will have opened for RVers.
