TV programs on the road

Most places we camp I have no satellite or cell service...
We have a small antenna we take with us but very limited channels if any.

We do have Netflix and I download some movies to mirror on my TV, but wondering if there is another method to record some of our favorite shows at home to take with us to watch while camping.

We are not big TV people, but at night before bed, we love to relax and watch a show before we retire for the night.

Maybe this had been asked and someone can point me to a link providing additional information!

Thanks so much!

Look into a Tablo DVR for recording OTA shows. You can then use the free "Tablo Ripper" software to download the recordings as .mp4 files to a hard drive to take with you. (Or a phone/tablet.) I use the Plex Media Server to play them, but any good video app should work.

And nice to have when Directv drops CBS in a contract dispute.

I use WinTV-HVR by Hauppauge and it's associated software. Basically turns any PC into a DVR. Works with OTA or cable.

FT and been across the country east to west north to south. Never had a problem getting satellite reception. Portable dish can aim in between most any trees. Just need to pick your camping spot to be able to get reception. Works great for me.

The simplest solution is to purchase a converter box such as one available on Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/Converter-Lee...gateway&sr=8-3

Adding a USB hard drive turns it into a DVR. I have a similar one. The user interface is a bit quirky, but once you get the hang of it, it works fairly well.
