Unable to get past Login for my Credit Card and 401K account

Within the last couple of weeks all at once now when I Login to my Credit Card or 401K account all I get is a blank page immediately after entering my Login.
I'm having to use my old HP Laptop with old Vista and I try to keep cookies and history cleared most of the time. Amazon, ads, and such are no problem.
Anyone have any ideas what may have happened and how to correct it, other than getting a new computer?
Thank you.

It's going to be his browser being expired or blocked by a useragent script on the banking websites. The average bank that I know of sunsets login support somewhere around Firefox 90 these days.

If you're not even up to 52, it's most likely because you don't have TLS 1.2 support enabled or even functional TLS 1.3 support (which was only in alpha in 52).

If you have a mobile phone or tablet, it's likely you can log in from there much easier than from a Vista laptop.

Aside from getting a new computer, he could try getting Windows 10 installed on his vista machine (he might get lucky and have driver support)

I experienced a similar issue with connecting to a few websites and I found out if I changed my ISP by using my phone as a hotspot I was able to connect to these sites. Might try changing your internet service provider.

I have a few websites that will not work on anything but Edge and Chrome as they are using too many of the Google tools.

I have not stayed at a Holiday Inn for years, but I would suggest that you enter all login info manually (no saved info). If that doesn't work, your "unknown device" might require two step verification. If all else fails, call them.

My 401K provider had me try both my browsers, Firefox (use probably 95% of the time) and Google Chrome, which neither one worked. So they told me the browsers were stuffed full of cookies and history, which I then cleared but that didn't help anything.

My credit card company simply said my old Vista Laptop computer was not supported anymore and I should update it. While on the phone she said she could help me do that, but I was a little leary about getting strung out with someone on the phone not knowing if they really knew what they were talking about.

Not in a position right now to purchase a new computer and learn it while getting ready for my campground reservations.

Don't understand why both will allow me to login with my ID and password then won't allow me to access my account.

Tried that and got the same results, everything just stopped after login to my credit card web page. Appreciate the suggestion.

Have been in 3 different campgrounds in last 3 days and tried using their Wifi to access my credit card account with no results. No problem with my second credit card but I don't use it as much as I do this one I've been using since 1991.

Calling this credit card company they finally told me I needed a new updated computer. If that's the problem why does it still work with the card I seldom use? Puzzeling.

Microsoft stopped supporting Windows Vista for security updates on 4/11/2017. That means that security issues discovered after that date will not have been patched which makes your system rather vulnerable.

Different card issuing entities have different security policies; some are more stringent than others. It's possible that the card you are having issues with could have an issuer that has as a requirement that the operating system be one that Microsoft currently supports. That doesn't mean that the user will necessarily have downloaded all the available security updates, but, at least, they will exist, whereas for your Vista computer they do not.

WM2,
Consider the downturn on returns for 401's. Might be you have nothing left in the accounts....Oops!

DocJ has a good point about old stuff.

Try with Firefox's newest release,101.0. Click on Firefox, About, to see what version you have. Safari's newest is 10.5. See if you can update to one of those versions. If they are not supported it will tell you and yes, you need a new Operating System better than Vista. Vista is 15 years old and the last update was 5 years ago. Truly recommend to try and update from Vista to whatever the old computer will take.

Also, try deleting all HISTORY in whatever browser you are using. Doing this will also get rid of any user id's that may be remembered so you need to know what your UID and PW's are when you clear the history.

Just may be the time to bite the bullet and break out the credit card for a new, inexpensive, computer. Best Buy has some laptops starting at $99 and on up. Stop and smell the roses at the next campground and save the fuel money for a new computer.

Edit: Amazon has some desktops in the low $200 range and some less.
Example: DELL
