Macs are popular enough that the bad guys target them too. More so, since the average Mac is less protected since their owners often share your attitutude.

Actually the average Mac is more protected but that protection is built right into the OS rather than requiring multiple third party add ons as is so common in the Windows world. ( Retired from more than 30 years of developing products for DOS and Windows users.)

Homeland security is telling me to uninstall this program? Must be bad news. Who makes this unsafe program?

Apple has been distancing itself from Quick Time for Windows since 2013. Apple iTunes does not use QuickTime anymore.
If you need a media player there are several out there that will replace QuickTime but they all may have their problems. There are not to many software programs out there that are not vulnerable in some way or other - it's just a matter of time.
QuickTime has been Depreciated for some time and code writers had been informed.
Click HERE for instruction on uninstalling QT for Win.

So, what do you use if you took movies that only QuickTime will play??
I have a few movie clips that I took on vacation in Egypt and a couple of clips showing my granddaughter taking ridind lessons. I've tried playing them with other media players, no doing.
Any ideas?
Any real reason to really believe anything Homeland security says?
