Upgrade from Mobley to what?

I have a ZTE Mobley with the $20 unlimited plan. I’m thinking about upgrading to a Netgear Nighthawk MR1100 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot Router.

Right now, I have the Mobley connected via usb to a WiFiRanger GoAC Router/Skypro combo. I also have a WeBoost.

I’m assuming I can move the AT&T SIM card from the Mobley to the Nighthawk, right? What other benefits are there if I upgrade to the Nighthawk? Primary use is for streaming Netflix to the motor home’s TV and browsing the internet.

Also, is the Nighthawk MR1100 the one to buy? Like this one on Amazon? ?

Thanks for advice.

Well David,
Why not just add a ROCO and any services like cable, sat you can bring in. I'm not a fan of anything Netgear. But what you have looks good. My only thought is with all the attachments your pulling your signal down weakening the signal. WIFI Ranger is very good to reach out in an RV park. But if your thinking of keeping that in the loop with all the other added stuff. All that just makes for a weeker outreach. I have friends who have cable and then add Netgear to the box. That is just way wrong. The Box if it has WIFI its putting out a signal and that should be all you need within 70-foot with walls. Here is the best advise "KEEP IT SIMPLE and for Computers" Most problems cases go back to the first change that was made.

This is what I installed my Mobley SIM in over two years ago:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MQRHQYT/

You'll need a separate wireless router but this has worked great in our RV for streaming, sometimes on both the main and bedroom TVs.

I've been running this same set-up for 3 years now with a WiFi Ranger Core/Skypro set-up.

The Skypro is probably not the most robust router but candidly it works just fine and allows us to stream as needed whenever we have a signal.

I also have a Visible (Verizon) unlimited hotspot on my iPhone 11 Pro Max that will weather into the Core when we need Verizon over AT&T.....which BTW is actually less than 10% of the time for us out west.

You might want to consider upgrading to one of our new Converge rooftop and indoor routers. The greater processing power now available make these routers a significant improvement over our older models.

Just curious, what will the Nighthawk do for you that the Mobley does not?

Moved my Mobley sim to a netgear 815S until it recently failed. I just moved the sim to a Nighthawk M1, which is the MR1100, and the improvement in speed and signal strength has been significant. The 815S was a major improvement for speed and signal strength over the Mobley, which is why I moved it to begin with. The M1 has been even better and the M1 accesses more bands than the 815S did. It's a faster connection speed,

allows for 15 connections rather than the Mobley's 5.

Can accept 2 external antenna's.

I moved to the Nighthawk about a year ago and was very happy with the results.

Any idea if it will do WiFi as WAN ?

The Nighthawk MR1100 is a cellular hotspot. It does not have WiFi as WAN capability. That's not what it was designed to do.

But to answer the original question, it's a much more advanced hotspot than the Mobley.

Interesting....I was looking on their website and they are saying it can function as a travel router

Pretty much all hotspots can operate as routers, but I was responding to the question about whether or not it had WiFi as WAN capability.

It can function as a simple router.

One more question.......can the SkyPro (one with 2 antennas) work without the WiFi Core?

For instance if I replaced the core and netgear modem with the nighthawk will the SkyPro still function??
