Verizon Black Friday/Motorola XOOM $149

I held out as long as I could. The most recent, about 4PM today, newsletter says the 2yr contract, $199.99 Motorola XOOM 4g LTE was $148, free activation, free shipping. I get to sleep in tomorrow.....

BTW, they are releasing a XOOM 2 in Europe next month. A little faster, a little thinner. Coming soon to a store near you.....?

I'm sorry I missed this deal. Have you used the Xoom as a 4G hotspot? I'm curious about how it performs. Thanks, and congrats on the score!

First Week "XOOM"

WiFi works great. WiFi hotspot running my laptop over 3G works. Downloaded Kindle and Barnes and Noble apps and read books from there. Google books came preloaded.
We like the 10inch screen over all the other 6-7inch readers.

Have tried and removed several free wifi printer apps. "PrinterShare" free test works and looks good but I am waiting to hear from my XOOM early adopter friend what he uses before I buy a printer app. Needs to be WIFI or bluetooth (adhoc) not network.

He is in a 4G area but needed to send his XOOM back for the upgrade. All he tells me is I will be amazed.
I need to travel about 40miles north or west to get into a 4G area. Once I test that I'll let you know how it works. BTW, I did call Verizon to see if they can spot test in the store. No. But if for some reason mine doesn't work in a known 4G area I have a year to swap it out.

Still learning all the bells and whistles. OEM documentation is scant but so far everything has been fairly intuitive. Changed the wallpaper and added a data counter to my home page right out of the box. Also ordered a recommended "4 Dummies" manual.

Thanks for the info. I'm trying to find a good solution for broadband access on the road. Unfortunately, I went to the Verizon site this morning to buy the Xoom 4G and it's SOLD OUT. Dang.

Oh, and I found a great Xoom forum with lots of info. XOOM FORUM
