Verizon home phone connect
Got verizon home phone connect it is a box you plug into the wall and it picks up a wireless signal then you plug a regular phone into it and for 19 dollars a month for unlimited minutes it could be a good way to reduce your cell phone bill. I have only had it for a week now but so far it seams to work good

i bought a box at Radio Shack for about $90. I plug my home wireless phones into it, and they are connected to my cell via blue tooth (it will accept up to 3 cell phones). I no longer have a land line. if i receive a call on any of the cell phones it will ring 1,2 or 3 rings depending on which cell is called.
much cheaper than an expensive land line.

Wish we could do that but the house alarm needs a land line.

I got the Verizon home connect last summer. It has worked great since. I am very happy with it. I haven't used my MagicJack since I got this box.

I must be missing something. We rarely use our cell phones (old farts!) and our Magic Jack works great as our home phone and on the road when we have a wifi signal. At $15 a year it was a great deal. I have a Verizon dry loop for my home DSL so what would this Home Connect give me that I don't already have or that I would need?

The home phone connect works off the cell towers just as a cell phone would

Ok, but how is that "better" than Magic Jack? We've never had any problem with it, but then again all we use it for is as a plain old phone. Kinda hard to beat the price.

ADT
Has a cell conversion for their system. I am a USAA member, and there was no charge by ADT to convert it to the cell system.

Can you provide more details? I've looked into that system to eliminate the need for a landline and still be able to use multiple phones scattered throughout the house but I didn't see any plans that gave unlimited minutes for only $19/month.

We have the Verizon Home Phone Connect too; no limits on minutes and our security sytem has a cell unit attached to it. Got rid of the landline and any verizon cell phone that calls it calls for free. Plugs into our MH when we are going anywhere and we get all of our calls. Just made sense to us since we are trying to eliminate all the taxes and price from CL, plus now we have it when we travel.
We didnt have luck with Magic Jack but this one works well for us.

I feel like I'm going in a circle. I WANT to have internet and I use the internet quite a bit. Are you saying that I then could use my cell phone for the internet (which I can do now)? Personally, I'd much rather have the use of a computer for the internet and additionally, I find myself frequently in areas not serviced by VW. I guess that bottom line, home connect is good for some, no advantage to others.

No the cell phone is seperate as is the internet. Verizon Home Phone is removing a landline and using a seperate cell tower to give you a home phone. Cell phone is a seperate account and then if you chose to you would have an internet source which is completly seperate from the home phone system. Or as you do use your cell phone as internet service. Hope that helps. I am sure that VW is not in all areas but we have found it has worked everywhere we have gone and so for us it works.
