Well my thoughts. It's Verizon. they didn't become num 1 giving out deals.
As campers. we need internet. be it park wifi or boondocking wifi. Had verizon for yrs. They pissed me off. went to 3 different places of theirs. Ended up with TMobile. I was paying $87 includes tax for 2 unlimited phone lines. Keep getting emails from them offering a "sweet deal" hahah. Come back 2 lines $80 plus tax, = $87. Same price as b4. Soo noooo sweet deal.
So in the OP case. i see it's whats available for a Hot spot. An speed does get decreased "during peak hrs' .

This has already been covered several times, most recently in post #18.

This thread is starting to go around in circles and posters clearly aren't reading previous posts. As the OP, I hope new posters read this before posting.

In summary:

1. It works, the speed is adequate (40.2 Up/6.41 Down) and it works on mobile hotspot (see post #18).

2. There may be throttling at some point but all indications are it isn't any more limiting than Verizon's unlimited plans. I can get around the mobile hotspot limits, by using a USB C to HDMI cable and connect directly to my TV. Current unlimited plan mobile hotspot limits are:

"With the Verizon Plan Unlimited, you get a 15 GB/month allowance of 4G LTE / 5G Nationwide1 data for Mobile Hotspot feature/app and mobile hotspot devices each billing cycle. Once you've used the 15 GB of data, your mobile hotspot data speed will be reduced to up to 600 Kbps for the rest of the billing cycle. During times of congestion, your Mobile Hotspot data may be temporarily slower than other traffic after 22 GB/mo of smartphone data."

Note: It's doubtful that I'll ever use more than 22Gb in a month unless we're on a long trip.

3. Clearly Verizon, nor would any cell phone company, offer something that wasn't beneficial to them in some way. In my case they're getting an additional $5/mo for my using negligible additional data in most months. On the other hand, it's worth $5/mo ($60/year) to me for the travel benefit. Pre-bonus, I'd have to pay $60 for an additional 4 Gb.

4. If there's a "catch" I fail to see how it's more limiting than my pre-bonus limited data plan ($15/Gb for data over 5Gb) and, if I decide there's an unacceptable issue, I can cancel the bonus data at any time and save my $5/mo. Links to discussions on other sites have been posted that have yet to find an issue or catch (see posts #1, #20 and #22).

5. Upgrading to an unlimited plan makes no sense to me personally and the lack of 5G may be a future catch but I really don't care about it for now. I also don't care about the unlimited plans' periodic benefits like saving $xx on a new phone. At $5/mo, this is a much better option for me.

6. Verizon has its issues but this thread isn't intended to be a bash Verizon thread. I have no reason to change to another vendor at this time so telling me how great your experience with XXX company isn't relevant.

7. Even if you haven't received this offer in your email, you may be eligible for it if you check your account online. See post #20.

I need MORE DATA

I have Verizon; I get 15GB high speed on the phone and 30GB on my Jet pack (I pay $10 extra) after I use all the High Speed I get unlimited LOW speed.
I am paying $99 per month.
45GB might sound like a lot but if I use 1 hour per day, in 30 days I have used it all up. If I watched several hours of movies or Utube I can use it up in
3 days.
So if I had 999GB of High Speed Data I could watch as much of the internet as I want. I will call Verizon to see if I can get it.
Stay tuned.

Just spent over an hour on the phone with Verizon, they said:
“That is a special targeted promotion by the marketing dept and it is only for people with the 4GB plan. Sorry but we can’t offer it to you.Bla Bla Bla”
Well there is a lot of information on the internet and I am a good customer why can’t you offer it it me ?
“ If you give me that web-site we will see if we can SHUT DOWN THAT MISINFORMATION.”
Oh boy, the Fascists are even in the phone company.
So I will have to live with 45GB for $100 a month or change phone companies.

I do not trust Verizon data plans

As a former Verizon customer, if I saw this I would immediately expect to have most of the extra data throttled. One of the reasons I left Verizon was being throttled regardless of my data plan or how much unused monthly data I had remaining.

As I pointed out in post #23 I am getting the 999Gb plan for FREE. Some have said this upgrade offer is only available to those on a 4Gb plan, however I am on a 2Gb plan shared with two phones.

I guess one of us with the 999Gb of bonus data is going to have to use 100Gb or more and see if any issues arise.

I didn’t recall seeing an email but went to my account using their app and, being on the Shared 10gb plan, there it was, an offer. So I grabbed it primarily based on the Technomadia folks below saying they thought it was legit. We’ll see what happens.

I have a 1500gb plan for the S&Bs from Cox for Internet and I think TV is part of that and rarely get to 300gb use per month so if this pans out as legit we will be in great shape as we transition from Weekend Warriors to Seasonal travelers.

Thanks for this. I have a 2GB shared plan. I used the MyVerizon app to access my plan info and there it was (that offer is not shown if I log in via a browser) so I snagged the 999GB for $10/mo. Also, it is a 1mo rollover plan, so if there is any unused data you can use it on the next month just like the current plan.

I was planning on using this to stream since many RV Park wifi connections are iffy at best and discourage streaming. It now occurs to me that what is important for streaming is not the 999gb data cap but the speed of the connection at the location you are located. My devices are LTE so I guess I'll find out....

My latest speed test (4G LTE) was 40.2 Up/6.41 Down and it worked great when I watched a movie on my Roku TV via mobile hotspot. I also bought a USB C to HDMI cable to bypass the per device hotspot limit of 15Gb/device. I'm sure I can't expect this speed 24/7 or in every location but I doubt it will be different than any Verizon unlimited plan's speed. Time will tell.

Damn, I'm not seeing it. I'm using the MyVerizon App on my phone and logged in. I also checked under "My Offers" and "Manage plans and services"

Where specifically is the offer showing up in the MyVerizon App?

Are you getting the $10 per line discount/credit for AutoPay ($20 total discount for me)?

Also, the 2 Gb/mo for Life Bonus on each line?

Perhaps one or both of these is making it so I'm not offered the 999Gb.
