Verizon wireless "in home" service

Wondering if anyone out there has experience with this service? It consists of a wireless box with antennae which you plug your home phone into. The box can be plugged in or has a backup battery. The cell service gives you the dial tone which allows you to call unlimited anywhere in the US for $19.95/month. Activation is $35.00 and a 2 year contract costs you nothing for the box. If you go month to month the box costs you $129.99. The box has a built in phone number which is yours to give out to people who want to call you.

Can anyone tell me from owning this service how well it works and are you happy with the reception etc?

Thanks

Toban

It works great if you have a good cell phone signal. You can purchase the unit on ebay for about $40 and not have to have a contract.

I have one. Bought it on eBay for $40. We also have the network extender that essentially creates a mini cell site in the house and sends the call out through the Internet.

WalMart Straight talk has the same unit, on Verison ( best coverage ) for $99 to buy it new, and $15 a month for unlimited US calling. We are getting that one after the first of the year..
unlike a cell phone, it does voice only, so no data.. phone calls only. it's like the old "brick" phones. It does have battery backup, and runs on 110V with wall wart, or 12V from your rig.
And it's a month to month plan. so you can shut it off for the winter... ( or summer )
and at $15 a month, it's the best deal out there. ( cost and coverage )

We got that plan just before leaving to FL in Nov. Have Charter Cable at home and their phone service was approaching $40 @ month. Dumped them and got Verizon. So far it worked great at home and flawless on the road and here in Fl. As far as will it work in Canada, yes. But will cost extra.
