What have I got? What do I need?

Even though I watched Telstar physically build the first earth terminal (Andover, Maine, early/ mid 60s) I know nothing about todays recreational satellites. I have zero interest but my bride is interested.

So I'm about to post a series of messages, each with their own photos. Once I've run thru what I have I'll sit back and let y'all educate me.

In a cabinet beside the very front tv I have these two items.

One (Panasonic label) appears to be a charging cradle (I also have a second one in the rear bedroom, beside another TV).

and this do-hickey (if need be I can attempt another pic/ after the sun moves):

Again in that same cabinet I have a second (but different) DISH do-hickey. It appears to have RCA type cables AND a short antenna.

In the bedroom - these items all share space with my underwear (due to it putting out heat I've unplugged it).

So this is the hardware I've found. Is it current or all obsolete? Am I missing anything?

If current where do I go next to get it up and running?

I have no manuals, no knowledge.

Help make my bride happy.

Your first picture is a R F Mogul Eagle Satellite antenna, one of the best satellite antennas available.
The second picture is a off/on switch for an old Winegard dome satellite antenna that was probably removed to make way for the R F Mogul Eagle.
The third picture bottom looks like the controller for an old Mini-State Over The Air TV antenna which may or may not still be on your roof, you only showed half your roof in the pictures.
The fourth picture is the R F Mogul Eagle controller and a DISH Network Receiver (Wally)
The fifth picture is a DISH remote, probably RF frequency instead of IR type.
The sixth picture looks like a DISH RF frequency receiver to work with the RF remote and the Wally
The seventh picture looks like a VIP211Z DISH receiver and DISH IR remotes.
The Panasonic items I don't have a clue as to their purpose.

All these items are current and should work together. As to getting them set up that's another story. You need to find a R F Mogul dealer near you and ask if they can get the system up and running. DISH will not be any help, you need someone who specializes in RV television equipment and setup.

I see you say your in lower Alabama, If so, call Nick Brewer at 256-460-5245. He is Tiffins audio visual expert and does after hours work just like this. You can take the coach to him in Red Bay and in a couple of hours he could have you up and running.

I understand most of your explanations, thank you for that much.

What are the funcions of the controller and receiver?

I do have an elevated "flying saucer" roof mounted ?antenna? (not shown) - I assumed it's a tv antenna. So what does the device with the pink area perform ... possible turn the antenna? To date I've just simply run the TV channel setup and it works.

So do I have all the necessary equipment for service (obviously I need the service)? And if so will it drive one or two tvs?

The receivers process the DISH satellite signal received buy the antenna and send it to the TV's.

The controller makes the antenna function and point to the satellites.

As to the flying saucer OTA antenna it may be omnidirectional or the pink device may aim it I just can't be sure based on pictures.

It would appear you have everything needed to make both TV's work. You just need to contact DISH and set up service and then have someone like Nick check everything and show you how everything works and in what order things need to be done to function properly.

Would a local Dish place be able to perform all this (to include holding hands and walking us thru it) or must I use an Eagle dealer?

Searching around I found an Eagle place about 3 hours away, closer than Red Bay (5-6 hours):

Dish canít help you other than to turn on service. They are clueless as to mobile systems . The system isnít that hard just turn on the controller if itís not already , to the dish and turn it on ! it will automatically raise up and search and lock onto the satellite if it has a clear view to them. Then hook the cable from the dish to the wally and the wally to the television and turn that on. You will see the set up menu if all is well and a number to start service. Iím sure a simple google search can show you the connections.
If you canít get it to work then call mogul or the ďlocalĒ dealer.
Dish has a pay as go plan and a flex plan that allows you to build what you need and not use all the time if you donít want to.
