Hey folks,

I intend to repro my home theater and man cave and while I'm not apposed to running my huge HDTV from an inverter, I'm just wondering what is the largest 12v HDTV that YOU HAVE??

No theoretical discussions here please - I'm not asking what all could be possible if . . ., just the facts. Have you been able to get a 40", 50" 60" 4k HDTV etc?

My Arctic Fox 22G came with a 28" 720P 12 DC LCD TV.

I had room for a larger TV and wanted something that looked good when sitting farther away on the couch or laying in bed. I looked for 12 volt TVs and didn't like the brands or the prices. I found a 40 inch TV that was 35.5 inches wide which is all I had to work with between a cabinet and the bathroom door.

We have DishTV and the Wally requires 120 volts. I ended up putting in an inverter dedicated to a Visio 40" 4K TV, Wally sat receiver and an Apple TV streaming devices. I think I am using a pure sine wave inverter rated at 250 watts. The standby idle wattage is far less when only the Wally DVR is active. I leave it on except when towing the trailer so the Wally DVR can record at any time.

We turn off our large 2200 pure sine wave inverter when not using it for the microwave, toaster, blender or air conditioner.

Good luck on your 12 volt TV mission. You might not like the selections or prices.

I've never seen one over 28" and the price was ridiculous. If I was looking for a real HDTV (one over 49") I wouldn't even waste my time looking for a 12 VDC one. Get a 120 VAC TV and appropriately sized inverter.

Agree with tfryman, biggest is a 28 inch I have found. Bought it for the bay and it is not even hd. 720 max resolution.

Don't just look to buy 12V DC, as often these are second tier designs, and rather dated, as a result they consume more watts than a newer, name brand design 120VAC TV, so even after you account for the inverter conversion losses (which are not that bad on modern inverters) you may be better off power conservation wise buying that AC powered TV

Our trailer came with a 40" Jensen HDTV that runs on 12VDC.

Agreed. A small dedicated TV inverter is inexpensive and will expand your TV choices enormously.

I paid about under $300 for my Visio 40" in 4K TV and it was lighter than the original 720P 28" 12 volt DC TV that came with the trailer. I replaced the mount with a version that had two arms to hold the TV slightly off the wall support bracket at the angle I desired.

If for your. man cave, would go for a hd smart tv with netflix, hulu etc built in. Might have to go to a name brand like Vizio, LG, Sony etc., which will normally require 120 volts.
