I've got several digital, circular and linear tire gages and they all give different pressures, and none of them agree with the TPMS. If tire pressure is so important, wouldn't someone build a reliable tire pressure gage and then -- ok, here's the toughest part -- STAND BEHIND IT!??!?!?

Tire pressure is only as important as you make it. If the readings are a few lbs apart then sleep easy tonight. I'm always amazed at how anal some get over tire pressures, oil, weighing things.

I check my tire pressures before every trip and at least once a week on the road. I also check tire temps at every stop. I am looking for big variations, but like to keep the tire pressures within a psi or two of where they should be. Especially want the duals to be within one psi of each other.

Funny how a blowout or three can make one anal. (Experienced three in one day) Can also get that portion of the anatomy puckered pretty tight.

If you had three blowouts in one day you should be looking for new tires not a better tire gauge. How old were these tires?

They were five years old, and that happened five years ago.They were on a Winnebago Adventurer, and were sized by Winnebago right to the GVWR for the coach with about 250 lbs. to spare. Not looking for a better tire gauge, just responding to the anal comment. FWIW, the tires were really underated for a motorhome in my opinion, but plenty of '98 models had them. The three in one day were all on the road. When they were two years of age, one blew out sitting still at a campground with the jacks down. We had been there three days at the time.

However, I am now very anal about tires. I tend to keep a close eye on them.

accutire digital 4021B northern tool sears MH mag did a good test on a bunch in Aug 10 see if u can go to back achrives. Also get a good TPMS

Some years ago I bought a certified gauge at NAPA. I only use it to check my others and now that I have a TPMS I rely on it.

THAT'S what I'm looking for. I'm going to NAPA, thanks. My TPMA seems to measure about 5% lower than the digital tire gage I use for the MH. I come from a world where torque and pressure mattered, and 5% was a FAIL! In the MH world, evidently not. I see the sloppiest work coming from these troglodytes, displaying a severe lack of professionalism and pride combined with a room temperature IQ.

I want to start comparing the "Stoopid Stuff I Found In My Motorhome". And it's a Monaco, which I thought was a bit better, evidently not. It is positively hideous.

Check the specs on this tire gauge, it is very accurate.....

I would do something similar as I did for our sump dipstick.

Get a new gage from NAPA. Check one tire for pressure. Test same tire with another tire gage, then mark that gage at the stickout point (if mechanical stick type) and you then have an extra gage that reads (at your mark) same as the original NAPA gage. Just ignore the numbers and go by your mark.

Don't know if foolproof, but probably better than nothing.

I purchased a tire guage at Flying J and then took it out to their shop and had the tech check it against the certified guage they keep on site. I do that every couple of years. it still works fine, just don't drop etc. Still a lot less expensive for $25 dollars than some of the expensive guages you cannot check.
