Which virus protection program do you use?

I've been using Bitdefender Total Security for several years and it is continually blocking unsafe websites. It has fully protected me so far. Amazon has the Complete version which protects up to 5 devices for $29.95.

Just wondered what you guys are using?

I have for longer that I can remember used Norton 360. It has a nice password app also called Norton Vault. I use the ten user package, five for me and five for the neighbor. Never a problem. On sale about $30.00 for one year.

If you do buy this just be sure to cancel the auto renew online, otherwise it can be expensive.

2x for Malwarebytes. My internet provider just switched from McAfee to Security Suite. So I've got that too.

I've been using Avast for years and I'm very happy with it.

Windows Defender + Defender UI. IMO Microsoft cannot afford for their Defender software to fail to protect, or they lose all respect from the millions running Windows.
I used Malwarebytes for several years, until they began loading pups onto my computer. It took an effort to totally locate and erase those pups after removing Malwarebytes from my computer.
I also use Glary Utilities 5 to manage my HDD and software, it is somewhat like CCleaner but much more advanced and thorough.

I looked at Glary Utilities web site because I hadn't heard that name before. I just wondered who and what they are. I don't know if it's intentional but it's very difficult to find out what country they're in. The "About Us", "Contact Us" etc pages don't say. Finally, the last part of Terms of use reveals where they are.

"These terms and conditions hereof will be governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China.".

It's probably perfectly okay but if I was running Windows, I'm not sure that I would be willing to download a closed source application of this type from China. By "this type" I mean its "scan" type behavior. If it's "cleaning" the registry it probably has full admin rights to read or write anything and has access to the network. I'm not saying they're doing anything bad but even so, a program like that seems like a perfect distribution and collection mechanism.

I know some people seem to swear by CCleaner type apps but I'm not convinced that they really do anything useful.

I don't run Windows but I agree with you on Windows Defender etc. It's probably all most people need.

I moved to Windows Defender several years ago. It plays very nice with Windows (not resource intensive) and is constantly updated with threat definitions. As others noted Microsoft has a vested interest in making it work as part of their Windows package.

I have been using Windows defender for years, along with some discipline in how I use email & manage my web surfing. I also use JV16 PowerTools as a registry cleaner.
I segregate my data from my OS & applications. Sensitive data is stored on a NAS which provides an additional level of security.
