Why is Starlink so slow?
I recently got Starlink's RV system, and am getting mbps speeds of 100 to 200 but it does not seem any faster than Verizon's cell internet at 50 mbps. It is very noticeable when watching videos and I have to wait for them to catch up from stalling. Is it just me, or is this normal

It all depends on where you're located and other factors. Cellular speeds can vary considerably, as can Starlink. If you're getting 100-200Mbps, then that's certainly faster than Verizon at 50Mbps. But even 50Mbps is plenty fast for things like streaming video.

We get consistent speeds between 100-200 down, 20-50 up, and have had zero issues streaming anywhere we've parked. Dish placement, obstructions, router location inside the trailer, will all factor in wrt consistency. I've yet to have a video pause or stutter since we got the system.

Have you checked the stats in the app for drop outs/disruptions/obstructions? Also, latency can play a bigger role in video stability than straight speed. Where you are vs. what ground station you are connected to can also play a role (as it can increase latency).
I had Starlink switch my home ground station to one on the eastern seaboard and my latency improved immensely. When connected to Starlink you can use a computer and go to a website called Starlink.xs. It will show your current ground station as well as a simulation of the satellites you are connecting to, switching stations, etc. there’s some decent YouTube videos and instructions for using the site as a reference to understand how your connection is being processed.
Good luck!

You should not see buffering with any speed over 50 mbps, in fact most of the time you should not see it if over 20 mbps

I do not have Starlink (though I am thinking about it) and I learned a lot from you response. I'm going to keep it in my "Troubleshooting" folder, just in case. Thank you!!

When I first set mine up it had a Palm tree across the street that was blocking my line of site to the lower part of the sky. Mine would buffer about 10% of the time. I moved to a Flag Pole Buddy on the back of my coach and fixed the buffering problems. This should show up in the stats in the Starlink app as disconnects. That is the biggest problem with Stalink is having such a wide area of clear sky to 100% connection but maybe that will improve with future planned expansions.
