Harbor freight flag pole clamped to the ladder works well.

This picture is a Ubiquity M2-HP with an 8db antenna. Has a range of a couple of miles. Not real good if you are trying to connect to something close.

When the WiFi Ranger is equipped with a "Mobile Boost" it will usually see all the access points in a CG so you can select which one to connect to (or to a nearby Starbucks ) However, the Ranger without the Boost does not have a receiver any better than you have in your laptop.

I know this because I have owned a Ranger for more than a year and a Boost since it was released a few months ago. They are good products and have "matured" considerably since they were first put on the market. You can buy and use one now without being a "techie."

This makes you private network less susceptible to interference and improves performance greatly.

Excellent.
