Thanks for the write up! It helped a lot... but I was still having problems... third USB cable passed the data and it all worked. Couldn’t have done it without the write up and others pointing out the power only vs data usb cables (which I scoffed at at first reading).
Thanks everyone!

Let's start from the beginning:
1. Set the Ranger to Advanced mode
2. In the Advanced Tab of the Ranger's Control Panel set the DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
3. On the setup tab, drop the cellular gear down
4.There is a "USB Mode" dropdown, set this to ttyUSB1 (Try each one until it works but start with this setting )
If this still doesn't work, please PM me the ID number of your GoAC and we'll take a look at it remotely. There's always the possibility that there is something wrong with your particular device.

I am on the new beta. The first time I set it up it works. with the setting described above.
I am in a park with wifi and use it when the speed is good. Last night I tried to connect via the tethered mobley and it dialed it but would not connect. Tried to reboot all the devices and still would not connect via the tethered mobley. Would via wifi mobley. I have a GoAC Elite pack.
Any suggestions?
I have not yet posted on the fb beta group but if I don't hear back hear will also post the issue there.

What's your APN on the Mobley and the WFR? Do they match? For some reason, mine also didn't connect one time via my tethered Mobley. I set the APN to "broadband". If matching the APN doesn't work, try doing a factory reset on the Mobley and set it up again.
Good luck....David

If none of these suggestions works, I suggest opening a trouble ticket at the WFR website. Not sure posting on the FB group will be any better.

Seems to be I am periodically losing some settings.
I had everything set correctly and also why it worked the first time.
Then I connected to the park wifi and lost the apn and dns settings. This is why it would not connect on subsequent tries. Reset the apn and dns and the mobley tethered now works.
I will try and do some testing later and see if the settings disappear again. I think this is a problem as I have lost settings before but chalked it up to me just not paying attention. Not sure I saw it on the stable release. I am on the beta now.
Anyone else experiencing losing settings?

If you entered data directly into the WiFi tab of the control panel and didn't save before exiting that tab, that would cause you to lose the settings, but you probably entered the settings using the pop-up from the main control panel tab in which case saving should be automatic.

Do you think you can get a AT&T tech out to do a install on these systems?

If you cannot/will not do this yourself I would try an RV tech first. The Mobley is supposed to be plugged into the OBDII port. That is a port specifcally used on vehicles. Those of us who are using the Mobley for internet in our rvs are not typically plugging it in there (although you can). You will need an adapter for this modification. The adapter splices into your 12v wiring system in the rv and then then into the Mobley. ATT would most likely frown upon this. ATT would have no knowledge on how to use a WifiRanger and I know for sure I would not want anyone like that trying to set one up.

They wouldn't touch that with a 10-foot pole, nor would it be wise to even ask.
The first question to ask is do you really need more than five simultaneous connections or need to connect to a router? If the answer is yes and you have no idea how set up the USB tethering connection then you might want to consider using a wireless bridge (aka 'game adapter') available at any Best Buy. This would get you an ethernet connection that you could connect to virtually any router and probably be easier for a non-technical person to set up. Either that or just get a more mainstream hotspot (such as a Unite Explore) that allows more connections and has more widespread compatibility with 3G/4G routers, and has potentially much better performance to boot.
I have (just for fun) gotten the Mobley to work with a number of routers that have 3G/4G USB ports, in fact haven't failed yet. Some are easy and some are hard though. The most common issue is that DNS assignment from the Mobley over the tethered connection likes to fail for some reason, but as many have found specifying DNS servers manually in the attached router overcomes this problem.

Would you tell us more about 'game adaptors' as they relate to this thread?
May a product link?
Thx!

A 'game adapter' (or any wifi device with a client mode) can be used to connect to a Mobley via WiFi and will provide a wired Ethernet output. You can then connect the Ethernet output to the WAN input of any router/access point you might have laying around and you will then be able to support as many simultaneous devices as you like, and also have some wired ports if you need them. It's kinda like using the USB tether mode but simpler to set up, plus you don't need any wires between the Mobley and the device so you are free to place the Mobley wherever it gets the best reception.
The adapters are just as common as can be, any Best Buy or similar will have one to sell you. One example is below but there are dozens if not hundreds available from various manufacturers and they all do basically the same thing.

Purchased the WFR ELITEAC PACKFM last May...and just now starting to set up (checking things out before finalizing with the roof installation) Well, happy to announce that we're all hooked-up and tethered to Mobley.
Thanks so much for your contribution to this thread. I would have never muddled thru this without your concise step-by-step install instructions. It's back on local WiFi now, but I guess I'll see when we pull out of the driveway in a couple of weeks to see how it switches over to Cellular. That will be sweet!!!
Thanks again,
Charlie
