WiFi Ranger upgrade option

I have Elite package WiFi ranger. (The one with the ubiquity antenna outside on the roof)

It does not seem that I have any upgrade option other than to throw it out and start over.

Does this old WiFi antenna even work with new indoor router (aspen)

I assume Joel is going to answer, but any other owners like me figured this out?

You can most definitely use your Elite (which is a complete router, not just an antenna) with a new Aspen router. I don't believe the Aspen can provide POE power to the rooftop unit but all you need to do is purchase an inexpensive POE adapter to provide the necessary power. The Aspen will be delivered, I believe, with firmware 7.1.0b6 but your Elite should be able to be upgraded to that without difficulty.

I'm currently using an Aspen without a rooftop router and it is much faster and more stable than the GoAC it replaced. I routinely run a 4-way load balanced connection and it is rock solid stable.

Thanks for being a WiFiRanger customer and feel free to ask any additional questions you may have. If you are ready to place an order I suggest you do so over the phone since your circumstances are a little outside the norm and the phone will be easier than online.

If you need to post an update to any part, make sure you have a good strong signal as WiFi Ranger recommends. I tried the last update on weak cellular and sure enough lost signal and had to send unit in for them to update/reset which was the easiest part. I commend and recommend the crew at WiFi Ranger, even though my unit is out of warranty and I should have waited to post the update. The repair cost me postage one way and maybe a week of downtime which was primarily the mail service. Great company to do business with and I hope they never loose sight of that great customer service.
