Winegard Connect 2 vs Netgear Nighthawk M1

I am having a bit of trouble deciding between which of these two units would better serve my all around communication needs in my motor home for 4G LTE and WiFi desires. My Wife and I live in our motor home fulltime. If it matters, we have a 2007, 40' Class A, Country Coach Tribute 260 Special Edition. I have read much about both units but, would like to hear from other users as to pros and cons for both. Thank you.

Welcome to the forum. We have the original Wingard and do not use it much. We also have WeBoost and use it most of the time.

You are joining a good group of folks here with good info to share. Read the various threads here and ask questions as they come up or add info if you can. Look at the technical thread here for some ideas.

Good luck and enjoy the adventure!

Hi Barry! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

I'm not familiar with either of those units. You might want to do so searching over in the technology area of the forum.

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

I've got one of the nighthawk routers. It's small and compact and PORTABLE.
I've got an AT&T Mobley** SIM in mine. (**the ZTE Mobley is a sub-par router that AT&T supplied with their original "connected car" program that many of us got into in 2017 for unlimited data for about $24/month that is no longer available.)

The nighthawk will service 15 devices and do so pretty well. I was able to buy a couple external antennas to put on it that enhanced my reception when I needed.

I also have a Weboost Drive-4G-RV that I used a lot with the Mobley but rarely with the nighthawk router.

I think the advantage you'd get out of the Winegard is that you can pick up wifi from a camp source but there are probably better options for that out there (Wifi Ranger). I have a pepwave surf on the go router that will do the same but not have as far of a reach of the externally mounted units in a campground if we used that functionality. We traveled full-time for 3 years and only used park wifi maybe 4 times.

An option to also think about would be to research using Visible phone service in an old iphone and a cellular router to share that connection as their internet in their RV. (I know just what you need more options, right) Visible can be had for as little as $25 for unlimited everything.
