Winegard Connect WiFi Extender
Thinking about adding the Winegard WIFI Extender. Has anyone installed one and does it work?
I'm putting it on a 2016 Dutch Star. How do I run the coax into the coach?

I looked at one while here in Quartzite. The roof unit three antennas don't have any flex. Will snag on tree limbs and the like, and break. IMHO.

Look at the WiFiRanger. It is a much more versatile unit. I looked at both and the product and support was night and day between the two. You can tether your phone or hotspot to the WiFiRanger it also has end to end encryption of all your data. Go to youtube there are lots of good videos about the WiFiRanger. Their out door unit is much better weather sealed. The ConnecT is 2ghz and 5ghz on outdoor unit and 2ghz only on indoor unit. WiFiRanger has both bands on both units. The WiFiRanger has great programability and detailed usage stats. It sounds complicated but it took me less than 5 minutes to set mine up. Again check out the YouTube videos before you make a decision.

The new top of the line wifi ranger is pricey at $750. Wow...

You might want to take a look at a booklet I put together on how to use some ubiquity gear to get the same effect. Very similar to the video mentioned above. You can download the pdf at The conFUSEd RVer: RV WiFi
If you are apple inclined it is available on ibooks as a free download. search for "RV WiFi"

I have a Ubiquity Bullet and Air Gateway setup similarity. A good and inexpensive solution, albeit a bit of techie needed to configure it.
Some promote to setup the Air Gateway as a router, others as Don, as a bridge. I like the simplicity of a bridge, but nothing wrong per se with it being a router and providing DHCP services to the clients.

I did it to avoid having addresses translated a second time at the RV. I thought it made it a little cleaner. With Ubiquiti it makes it slightly harder to set up, but you could replace the airGateway with pretty much any old AP with this setup.
I plan on adding to the book Mikrotik instructions in the near future. I think they have some really interesting and inexpensive hardware that does dual band 802.11ac. I wish Ubiquiti had a nano-station that would do dual-band 802.11ac or an airGateway that would do the same. The Mikrotik software is super powerful but is not very user friendly.

Even though I would love for everyone to buy a top-of-the-line WiFiRanger , we recognize that different people have different needs and different price points. We encourage potential customers to analyze their needs before committing to buy. Some people may find that all they need is a single, indoor router rather than an expensive system with both rooftop and indoor devices.
Even an indoor unit by itself, which is all that I'm using at the moment, will provide significantly better signal strength for both transmitting and receiving when compared with what is built into your laptop or tablet.

I bought the Winegard WIFI Extender over the weekend, on sale at CW. As was already posted the three antennas do not flex which could be a problem for some. My rig has the Girard style facades and the three antennas shouldn't stick up more than the heat pumps so not a problem for me.
I also have a Maximum Signal 5 Band RV RV Wireless Cellular booster to install. I was going to return the cell booster but I found that even in populated areas it would be wise to have one so I'll install both at the same time.
With the high front cap and facades I have a perfect place to run the wiring through and seal it.

Too much snow and rain to even think about getting on the roof right now, plus I am having knee trouble again and don't want to climb ladders yet! Old knee injury (motorcycle racing) and 5 surgeries so far, next one will be a replacement. Will see the surgeon on Monday and see what he says.
