Winegard G2+ 50' cable max?

I purchased a Winegard Carryout G2+ to use when my Traveler on the roof is blocked. The problem is I can't get it to operate with a cable longer than 50', Winegard tech advised me that is the absolute max length that I can use. I wish I had known that prior to the purchase. Anyone using this unit experienced this problem?

You could get a longer RG11 drop. The loss per foot at the highest frequencies are much lower. It is also much thicker so the coil will take up more space.

We run a low loss quad shielded cable at 100 ft on our G@ and no issues.

Thanks astrocamper I looked it up on Amazon $45 for 100 ft. This gives me some hope now

Ask Weingard how much loss the receiver will tolerate. You may have to use a more expensive, low loss cable like Times Microwave LMR400. Your wallet will not be happy but 75 ft @1gHz has 4.5dB of attenuation.

I have used 100 ft of RG11 coax with a Pathway X1 antenna and a Wally receiver with good reception. What receiver are you using? Since the receiver provides the 12 volt power, maybe the receiver does not provide enough voltage.

I was using the Dish 612 receiver, I also have a 722 I might give it a try.

I will give Winegard a call back today. From what has been posted here it sounds like I need to step up my cable.

I spoke with Winegard today and the tech said that the better cable such as the RG11 would definitely provide better power. She advised to go with no more than a 75' length if connecting it to the outside port on the coach.I think I'll get a 100' piece, I can make it shorter but not longer without using a barrel connector. I know each time there is a connection it loses a little voltage. Thanks to all for your advise.

I ended up switching to a pathfinder X2 because the larger 18 inch dish relector provides better signal strength compared to the ones with the 13 inch diameter dish reflector.

I would constantly lose one of my satellite connections before the change.

I also put new compression fittings on the cable connection at the outside wall to the faceplate near the tv.
