You Tube TV price increase

As most of you You Tube TV subscribers know by now, YT TV is raising their fee a whopping 35%. I switched from Hulu live TV to YT TV about a year and a half ago when I found out Hulu would not allow reception of their live TV streaming service to a stand alone TV when we were outside of our home area. Not good since we summer on our RV outside of our home area.

Hulu does allow streaming to a mobile device outside of the home area but I don't want to go to the trouble of casting a mobile device to my TV.

So what to do.

The pundits are recommending Sling TV. Tons cheaper and has most of the channels I want. Anybody know if you can stream Sling TV to your RV TV when your not in your home or billing address area??

Yes Sling can be streamed away from your home location with no issues. Depending on the plan you can have up to three different devices streaming at the same time no matter if you are together or scattered across the country. The downside I have had with sling is the built in apps on my LG and on my Fire tv do not play well with Sling. The Firestick wouldn't work with it at all. As long as I use the Roku I have no problems. Check out Pluto TV (free) and RokuTV (also free) they carry alot of the same channels as the pay streaming services.

We looked at Sling but no CBS, NBC, Fox, ABC and have to get those over the air. If I didn't care about the major networks I would go with Phillo for 20 bucks.

Unless things have changed Hulu doesn't permit the home are to be established using a cellular internet connection. Therefore, it is of no use to those of us who don't have a sticks and bricks with a fixed internet connection.

Hulu works fine for us on Fire Stick. They also allow you to change your home location 6 times a year, more than that you have to call in.

Netflix, Amazon Prime, Roku, Pluto and Tubi keep us entertained, Haystack for news. No problems streaming any place we go. Mostly Missouri and Wisconsin. However everyone has different tastes in entertainment.

Buyer beware with Sling. If you dig through the details, you may be paying a lot more than you expected to get what you want. Want news and sports, you have to buy both Sling packages. Want business news , that's another add on. Want tennis, another add on. When I priced full package of what we wanted, it was almost as much as YTTV. YMMV. Streaming providers have learned same tricks as cable TV providers. To get the one channel you want, it requires another $15 package to get your one channel + 15 that you do not care about. Just as an example. If you like to watch golf, buy a package that has Golf Channel. But, if you want to watch golf on Sat or Sun, you have to have CBS or NBC so you have to have locals. Each use case is different. Just do your research.

My tolerance for commercials has dropped to zero so I just don’t watch any commercial TV anymore. I wonder what the percentage of full time RVers who pay for TV is? Anyone have any statistics?

We pay for TV but what we pay for includes Acorn, Britbox, Netflix, Amazon, and HBO. Most of what we watch isn't network TV and paying for it is the only way to see it.

Years ago we had a Dish DVR that responded to skip commercials quickly. My experience with YouTube TV skip forward was underwhelming.... hence dropped it.
