YouTube & Google Earth as Campground Finding Tools
I know they're not new tools, but DW and I have recently been using these two tools to help us select campgrounds as we travel. If we find a place that "looks good on paper", we will call it up on Google Earth to take an aireal look... and many have "street view" panorama views. This gives us a good idea of what the area looks like.
We also will type the name of the CG into a YouTube search and in most cases someone has posted a video or slide show of their vacation there.
These two things have made finding a CG with few surprises much easier.

I've used the same thing in researching RV parks/CG's in unfamiliar areas - not perfect, but a BIG improvement over a map, or a park website that shows only the park, and not the surrounding area...

I've been using Streetview for a while now. It's great to check out gas stations to see if they have enough room for a MH with a toad.
If you put in your end points and have Google Maps calculate your directions, you can click on the photo icon and it will show you a picture of each intersection of where you will turn.

We've been fans of campgroundreviews.com from the start. It's great but we've just found the addition of these two tools to help provide us with a more complete picture.

And you don't have to use paper. Besides RV Park Reviews, you can bring up an area map using Google, or Bing (I like the Bird's Eye View in Bing.com/maps), and in the Google or Bing search line enter "rv park" (without the quotes) the map will be populated with RV parks. Then you can choose one and zoom in. Try different search words, like "campground" or if in the mood for Mexican food, type in "mexican restaurant" again, without the quotes. Use your imagination on search criteria.
Happy trails.

Great suggestion on Bing. I'll check it out.
