Generator doesn't charge batteries, it powers the inverter/charger, just like shore power, to charge them.
Look in that direction.

Did you check circuit breakers on inverter/charger ?

How about a battery cable left off ?

Master battery switch off or circuit breaker tripped near the batteries will prevent charging from getting to the batteries.

Do the 12 volt lights work on shore/generator power ?

Or at your inverter control pad you have the charger disabled. Post the model of the charger, mine has three reset breaker buttons.

There are many possible causes. Some posted above.

Power to the inverter/charger, but batteries not charging suggests:
12 volt power switch near entry door is "OFF"
12 volt disconnect switch near battery bank is "OFF"
High capacity fuse or circuit breaker between battery and charger is tripped or blown
Circuit breaker on inverter/charger is tripped
Inverter/charger controls need changing
Loose or corroded wire connections

See "Troubleshooting" guide in operator's manual for charger testing procedure.
