A/C units-add heat pump?

I am getting a 2016 5er (Grand Designs Solitude) with two Dometic "premium" airconditioners. I don't believe the units have heat pumps, can they be added (I know it is essentially a circuit board and possibly a few other components) or would I have to replace the whole unit? I don't think it can be retrofitted but thought I would ask.

I would be curious to know if the heat pump is needed or would the fireplace and furnace be just fine.

Heat pumps are a bit more that just a circuit board and some other stuff. I've never heard of one that could be retrofitted to an existing A/C.

However, some of the Dometic air conditioners have heat strips that can be added to some existing installations. You might want to check into that.

Short Answer,

No you would not retrofit an RV A/C unit to make it a Heat Pump.

The expense far out weighs the benefits because its way more component replacement, addition, and recalibration than you think.

You can always replace your A/C units with heat pumps and I am a firm believer from experience that move is well worth it.

You can sell your used in great condition A/C units to make back at least half the expense you put out for the change over.

Good luck

Wow, that was quick and great answers!
Yes the fireplace and furnace would likely be enough but with limited propane storage (our MH has a huge fixed tank) in the 5er it seems that heatpumps/ heat strips would be a good addition. We have heat strips in our MH and really like them, had heat pumps in our trailers in the past and liked those too. We got the 5er for our extended winter stay in Central California. Keeping the MH for travel camping. We'll probably just see how we do in the current configuration and upgrade if we think it is needed.
