About to purchase a Flojet, have some queations

Hi,

I am about to purchase a portable Flojet, I will need a 75ft hose and have a rise of about 5 foot. If I have an issue pumping at that I will be able to temporarily park the coach about 40ft away and a 3ft rise.

Is a 3/4 hose ok will I need a 1 inch thick?

What's the best way to connect it to my batteries? The batteries are about 15 foot away from the wet bay.

Is there a clamp I can get to keep the hose in the toilet?

Thanks,

I have the portable type, used it about 8 times, works great.
I couldn't find a good hose, so had to use a 5/8, and it was fine. I use a portable booster pack, to power it, the one used for jumping a car batt. If need be, go to hardware store and get the best clamps you can and very good wire to be able to reach the bay, (it wont be cheep) Offset the connections so they wont touch, and still insulate them. A 3/4 hose will be great, I just dumped into blue boy, you will need 2 people, as when turned on, it pumps like crazy, so will need to hold end down. Don't run it to long, give the motor a break to cool off, as that will kill it sooner than later.
Happy dumping.

Thanks Traveler,

So you connect the jump starters crocodile clips to the Flojet?

We will be dumping in toilet. I will get a 3/4 hose so.

Thanks,

My sewer outlet was closer to the generator, so I connected the FloJet to the positive cable on that.

I have pumped about 70 feet away, up 3 feet with garden hose but the thermal switch would kick out before I was done.

I went to Harbor Freight and picked up 3 lengths of roll flat, 1 inch hose. Seemed to be less strain on the pump.

Thermal switch went bad before I did that, so I jumped it.
After 5 years of using it, almost all of the time, its burnt out.

Just ordered the SaniCon Turbo 400 .

Yep, jumper pack is fine. Conect to clips. It's a cheep motor running, pumping, and grinding, so run 1 mn or less and let cool, and so on.
You will see when holding end down the power it pumps at.

My Flojet came with pretty long wires, but if you need more, just use jumper cables which you might already have anyhow.

For 75' and 5' up, I'd invest in some 1" flat hose - the stuff that looks like small fire hose.

As others have said, these little pumps work hard, use a lot of 12 volt power, and tend to overheat if you work them too hard. Take your time.

I have used a flo jet on two RVS for about 5 years. The longest I have pumped was about 75 feet with a 100 foot 3/4 hose. I have a dedicated hose. I ran a circuit to my water bay and installed a fuse block to power the pump and other items like a We boost and tire monitor booster. I have had the pump motor stick and blow the 20 amp fuse. Now I turn the pump with a screw driver to make sure it's free. Make sure no one puts anything but TP. Not a fun job to remove other items from the pump.

Hi Twinboat,

I found a 1 inch flat hose on Harbor freigh, Like you I would need 3 lengths. Did you need an adapter to hook up the hose to the flojet?
