AC, PPL, Installation

The 16 year old Coleman Mach 1 air conditioner on my Majestic began to fail last month (which put me back in a tent for a few days vacation).

Ordered a new Mach 3+ from PPL Houston on a Sunday night, was shipped Tuesday, and arrived at my freight terminal on Thursday morning.

The price was right ($660, it went up after I ordered) for an in-stock item.

Replacing it was easier than some of the YT vids made it look, and was a little harder than others showed. The biggest was having a power driver for the retaining screws that are 6" long... which I didn't. Lots of turns on the nut driver...

With a helper, it was 45 minutes to remove the old unit and place the new one, and another 30 minutes to re-do the interior portions. At $150/hour for a tech or shop, plus the mark up on parts I think I saved about $400-$500 as a DIY.

So kudos to PPL Houston for fast shipping and delivery, at a friendly price. It will be nice to have cold air again!

We have always been more than pleased with the service from PPL. They get things done.
