Added a dishwasher to our 5er

Pretty pleased with it. This has been the biggest thing we have missed in our home. No more spending 20-30 minutes a night doing dishes!!!!! and we got a bunch of a counter space back, that constantly had dirty/clean/drying dishes sitting on it.

Clearly Alfa designed the island to fit a 18" unit, as it just fit perfectly in all dimensions. We did lose the 4 drawers they had installed in the end, but its totally been worth it.

Biggest thing I had to do was take out the double sink, as the 2nd basin didnt clear the top of the dishwasher Tub. I simply patched the counter top with a cutting board. The 18" bar sink was hard to find - not a common size. Actually found it on Amazon believe it or not. If you look closely its obvious the cutting board is a patch, but I think functionally, its pretty darn good. We also get a built in cutting board!

My biggest complaint is the 18" dishwashers are darn expensive. Unless you want a real cheapie, your looking at $200-300 then the equivalent 24"! And they are special order at most big box stores.

Got ours at HD for about $700 OTD.

Anyway, if you have a 5er with an island kitchen, do some measuring, you may be suprised....

That is a darn nice job

Can you post a picture of the rear plumbing hookups if you have one or can access that?

Dishwasher?

Where is she? LOL!

Actually, I love doing dishes/kitchen cleanup. So for just the 2 of us, a dishwasher would be waaaaay down the list.

But congrats nonetheless.

When we bought our 15 Discovery, the only thing it did not have was a dishwasher. Took 2 days to get it installed before delivery. Now as the husband, I don't have to do dishes anymore. Worth the wait and expense.
Downside, the strainer and many parts have to be cleaned regularly. Quess who does that....
Powdered soap works better than liquid.

Sure. They are bog standard household plumbing. I cut the pex plumbing and attached shark bite connectors for the sink faucet, and the drain is just simply 1.5" plastic.
Eventually I'll cover up that right panel. But it's a useful spot to store soap and check for leaks...so maybe not.
Would you believe the duct tape is OEM? Lol

We're using the now known to be dangerious to teenagers soap pods. Seem to work fine. And who has time to do dishes every night? Totally agree. My guess is it uses less water too. Per the manual ~2 gallons on light, and ~3 gallons on normal loads.

We are using it boondocking, no issues at all!

If your Dishwasher is foamy and strainers are plugged up often your using too much soap. A tablespoon is enough.
