The one under my galley sink is glued on. The only option is to cut it out and replace with threaded components. All the rest were threaded and hand tight.

That 'threaded' section SHOULD unscrew from the fitting

You have only removed the Upper cap exposing the spring/plunger assembly

Yours maybe 'glued' which is ridiculous as they are meant to be replaced

ID:	338448Had this problem and numerous suggestions to replace both one under kitchen and bath sinks- they’re only $6 ea at Lowe’s. Others recommended The Shark fin roof vent, I bought one and there was my problem = hornets had built multiple nests inside the vent tube, one was 1ft down inside. Went back and got window screen to prevent recurrence and installed the new vent with screen. You’ll need a tube of decor sealer also.

It is common for the valve to be overtightened and for the plastic to plastic friction to make it very difficult to unscrew. Your photo is dark, but you can see the threads from the valve going into the threaded adapter. Unless you see glue on the threads where they enter the adapter, you should be able to unscrew the valve with channel locks or small pipe wrench. Worst case, the valve breaks and you can cut the pipe, add a new section with adapter, and replace the valve.
